Originally I was going to do a DIY Drop Troop list. But after some serious deliberation, I broke down and decided to go with Death Korps. With some schrewd negotiating on Ebay, I now have a Baneblade, 3 DK Squads advancing and 1 DK Grenadiers squad on their way. Both were great deals as I managed a 22% savings on the Baneblade (new in the box) and 26% savings on the DK models (also new in the packaging). Now, these advanced elements should arrive by this Saturday via the Emperors loyal Adeptus Prioritus Mailus ( ;D Tell me thats not funny). Within 2 days of their arrival, the Adminstatum should of worked out its red tape with the Adeptus Munitorum (tax refund) so I can requisition more troops which will consist of the following. - 1x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG COMMAND HQ SQUAD
- 2x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG COMMAND SQUAD
- 3x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG INFANTRY SQUAD FIRING
- 1x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG LASCANNON SQUAD
- 2x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG HEAVY BOLTER SQUAD
- 1x DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG HEAVY MORTAR BATTERY
I currently have a Leman Russ, 3 Chimeras, and 3 Steel Legion squads. I will most likely be selling the Steel Legion squads on Ebay and using the funds to go towards a Medusa or Earthshaker (towed versions because they look so damn cool). But anyways, just wanted to let you guys know because I'm finally going to get my dream army started. The love affair has begun.

That does sound like a dream army, maybe a thudd gun would be dreamier(If thats a word). Nice use of Imperial words in describing everyday things.

After some discussion with the wife and discovery of a guy selling 6x Heavy Mortars and 3x Thudd guns at a 20% discount, I think I will be getting an entire Apoc Avenger Company. Now I have to find some cheap Centaurs and Trojans.

Alright, now for an update. I originally posted about my ebay find, so I got 3 DK Infantry Squads and 1 Grenadier Squad on the way already done deal. I just got done placing my second order, this time straight to Forge World. This is the run down of what my total Krieg Army is going to consist of (now all ordered and paid for, simply awaiting delivery).
This list will mostly be based of the Seige Army list from IA5 or for Apocalypse. I will occasionally use it as a Krieg list straight from IG Codex.
HQ: 1x DK Command HQ squad
1x DK Lascannon Squad (3x LC)
2x DK Heavy Bolter Squads (6x HB)
1x DK Mortar Squad (3x Mortar)
ELITE: 1x DK Heavy Mortar Battery (3x Heavy Mortars)
ELITE: 1x DK Grenadier Squad (w/Heavy Flamer)
TROOPS: 3x DK Infantry Platoons consisting of:
1x DK Command Squad 3x DK Infantry Squads (have a varying mix of Advancing and Firing poses)
FAST ATTACK: 1x Graia Pattern Hellhound
HEAVY: 3x DK Medusa Siege Guns (Towed versions)
HEAVY: 1x Leman Russ
SUPER HEAVY: 1x Baneblade/Hellhammer
I will be purchasing 3 Demolishers in the next month to supplement this as well as filling out the Infantry Squads to a full 6 Squads each (Seige list allows for 2-6 squads per platoon as opposed to the normal 2-5).
All told, this is going to be a fun list to model and paint, regardless of how it plays out in game. Curse you Forge World and your beautiful models!
Also, it turns out the guy with the 6x Heavy Mortars and 3x Thudd guns alreayd sold them so that fell thru. No worries, I'm very happy with the way this list is coming along.

Update. Alright, I'm a mad man and I cant be stopped. I just put in an order for 2 Gorgons with Assault Sponsons as well. I just couldnt resist. That will be my last purchase for a few months though. All told my Apoc list is topping 5200 pts with just my Krieg list.

Heres an update. I've recieved some of the models so far. I just got the 3 Medusas, 3 Infantry Squads(advancing), 3 DK Artillery Crews, 1 Grenadier Squad, and 1 Grenadier w/Hvy. Flamer. Heres a pic of one of the Medusas and one of the Infantry squads assembled and primed. I converted the Infantry Flamer from one with small tanks attached to the weapon, to one using the Cadian flamer tanks on the back. I think it looks a lot better. I also trimmed up a Cadian Vox Caster and put that on a guy as well. It just looked way too big untrimmed.

Two more additions assembled and primed. Still trying to figure out a color scheme. I'm almost afraid to start as I dont want to ruin the models.

Update. GORGONZOLLA! And I dont mean the cheese. Got a package via UPS from FW today. My second order came through, still waiting on the rest of the first. This one consisted of 2 Gorgons and 3 Centaurs. I hadn't realized it, but the Centaurs come with a crew of 4 or 5 guys. A Driver, a Gunner, and 2 or 3 Arty crew seated in the back. Pretty cool if you ask me. Anyways, heres a pic of one of the Gorgons assembled and primed. It went together with only a couple snags (notably, the drivers roof doesnt fit properly and needed some finaggling, and the armored prow was a bit tricky as well). The model has a nice solid feel as well as some weight to it. Doesn't feel as light and fragile as a plastic kit.

Update. Got a package today that had 3x Heavy Mortars, HQ Command Squad, 3x Lascannons, Graia Pattern Hellhound, 3x Infantry Squads Firing and about 8 Arty Crews (I'm maxing out the crews so as to prolong their life, ie. ablative wounds). Heres a pic of some I put together and primed today. For those who are interested, the Heavy Mortars are a breeze. Five parts total (barrel, wheels x2, carriage, hand wheel) and took a total of about 10 minutes to put all three together.
