Just a thought on the painting front, I find GW are awesome at guides to painting and advice in the stores ... but the approach can be VERY "model painting by numbers" - which I understand as it's a fantastic way to sell you 18 shades of grey at £2 each!
Soooo ... what's your approach?

I use the dipping method on my models which I find quick and cheap. I only need to use basecoats on my guardsmen. I use Snakebite leather, graveyard earth, mithril silver and elf flesh from the games workshop range and 16 Desert Sand from the humbrol range.

I tend to use my another acrylic brand. Usually Apple Barrel or Delta Creamcoat.
I get twice the amount of paint for half the price so it is a no brainer from a pocket book stand point.
Which is actually contradictory to my take on the GW hobby as a whole to begin with. Considering my entire army is tourny legal and only uses GW models. One would tend to think I went with their paints as well. Ohh well, I have to save money where I can especially with the number of tanks I paint on the side for people. Nothing like using a rattle can and a bit of clay.
