Im going to get a High Elves army, from what I have been asking my friends is that HE are suposed to attack with archers, then the bolt throwers, then the calvary, and then footman. (archers and ranged attack at the same time, and chariots count as calvary)

Armour rules are as follows Light Armour 6+ Heavy Armour 5+ Mithtirl Armour/Full Plate/ Chaos Armour 4+ Shield +1 to armour save Shield + Hand weapon in combat as long as you aren't flank or rear charged +1 Horse 6+ Barbing +1 to Arour save -1 Movement so if on barbed steed heavy armour and shield = a 2+ armour save you don't recieve a bonus for hand weapon and shield or 2x hand weapons while mounted

My best friend plays HE and here is they way you deal with them.
The first and most important thing you must know is that you're not going to kill off an elite unit in one phase. You MUST widdle them down slowly. You must take advantage of their elites disavantage. Swordmaster-pick on them in the shooting and magic. just one rank of these guys can go through units like there is no tommorow. White Lions-can go through trees good against shooting attacks, but thier lack of attacks and lack of a save proves to be thier down fall in close combat. If you're going to take on these guys hit them with a unit that has lots of guys in it. So their Strength does not matter. Pheonix Guard-believe it or not these are the more trouble some units to deal with since they have a 4+ward save. You have to get them down to a managable #s before charging a unit that has a good armour save 1+ or 2+. They cause fear so if you wiff or he rolls insane 4+wards. You're screwed. Dragon Princes-Same as the Swordmasters but most players only field 5 or 6. So you just need them to make save and they will fall, they are immune to ALL FLAMMING ATTAKCS.
IMHO HE are not chessy at all. I think that they need ASF. Like the lizardman player has said earlier. It doesn't always effect armies; it effect armies that just need the charge, but even then those armies can win.

Haha the new Sallies DESTROY greatswords. if you have to charge them never do it piecemeal. Pile in and smack the little weaklings. especially white lion/phoenix guard.

In Ravening Hordes, in other words, a long time ago, High Elf spearmen and archers could fight/shoot in, I believe it was, three ranks. I'm not sure if they can still do that. I'm almost certain the archers can't shoot so abundantly anymore. But High Elves aren't cheap, they're an expensive army to field.
