don't know how many of you have seen the new airbrush that GW is putting out. ca.games-workshop.com/news/cn/Announcements/spray_gun/spray_video.htmAlthough the spray gun looks cool, i am not sure how well it will work. I own a badger double action and i love it as much as a man can love a piece of metal (that didn't come out right), and i don't think GW is going to sway me. the video was kind of cool because it shows you the mixture quantities for the foundation paints.

I know that it looks pretty cool, but i am not a fan of single action airbrushes. it means too much fiddling if it doesn't work. you can buy a cheaper one, basically the same from a toy store and it comes with all the stuff.

they did a demonstaration at the grapvine store, it was a basic watered down foundation, on an entire box of cold ones, then 10 min later used the new green wash with the spray gun, it looked amazing. theres no real fiddling to it, its easy to use, and extremly durable. ( one of the staff droped it and it got ran over by one of those electric mall wheel chairs, and it lived with no dents, just had a slight scratch

How much will it cost and can you use regular citadel paints with it?

Looks like junk.
Many years ago I had an airbrush like that and it was pants, could never get it to work right for more then a minute.
If you're going to use an airbrush then get a double action, internal mix one with a compressor

Well to be honest I have my doubts, I've never had an airbrush before and it looks a little delicate...is it good? Does anybody think?

Does anyone know of a realy cheap airbrush I can get? you can get a cheapo airbrush at micheals (the craft store). sometimes they have them in TOYS R US', in the model car section. expect to pay about 30 bucks, maybe more, but i think some of them come with the compressed air can in the box.

I just got a cheap airbrush from Hobby Lobby. Do you have to water down the paint to get it to flow?

FYI... There has been a recall on the first run of airbrushes. No reason given as to why. Suspect faulty manufacture.

Ha. Speculation turns to reality, and i am once again vindicated for being a pessimist.
Yes you do have to water it down. there are some other sites on the net that talk about what to use for citadel paints. Some people say use Alchohol, i would avoid it. water works just fine because GW paints are acrylic, ie water based.
Foundation paints should be watered down atleast 50/50. not sure about the regular stuff.

Windshield washer fluid works well.
The reason some suggest using the alcohol is because of the dry time. Alcohol will dry faster, thus the paint dries quicker as well. Retarders will slow the cure time of paints which allow for smoother coats and blended effects.
You have to remember with an Air brush there are two schools of thought. 1. faster dry times = faster work 2. slower dry times = nicer fades and thiner coats of paint = smoother finishes and better results.
The trick with this is knowing when to use which school of thought for what work. When working on something that is large scale (e.g. titan) you want the slower dry times and nice smooth finishes will achieve very remarkable effects. For the small scale that we are working with a faster dry time is acceptable since most of us will not be painting each individual model with the AB, but instead just base coating them.
I forsee that the AB will be most useful with the tanks and other vehicles moreso than anything else, but the old rattle can does just as nice a job either way.
paints should be thinned to the consistancy of 2% milk when running them through a AB. DO NOT shake the paints to mix them as this doesn't give a consistant mix and will end up giving you fits since it will leave "chunks" in your paints. These chunks will clog an AB quickly. AB need to be cleaned between colors. This can be as simple as running straight water between each set. Also, in some areas you will find that an AB will sputter. This is caused by moisture in the line so an in line moisture trap is needed.
I'll post up an AB tutorial since it seems that folks are interested in this now.
