hey!! fellow gamers i have been collecting and converting and testing scemes and such for gaurds for so long now, im honestly tired of having something painted and realizing it took to long or i just dont like it which is were im stuck, i cant find the perfect sceme for me ive looked at CC's figures and other members figures in amazment and wished i could do that. i need as much help as possible in doing this so i can finally make a gaurd army, im also stuck on which weapons are the best since theres so many rules i get mixed up and all.
i honestly dont want a cadian army, maybe a kit bash conversion army
heres the schemes that interest me -WWII us army or paratroopers (some with netting) -Halo marines -aliens colonial marines -starship troopers mobile infantry -doom marines II or III -and any other scemes you guys throw at me
painting directions and pictures would be a great help.
i think my biggest problem is dedication and lack of orginality.
please help me i need to kill me some nids! or die tryin!! for the emporer or whoever pays me enough to fight for them!!!!

Hmmm, well the closest I've seen to american troops were cadians with the following: - Green helmet + netting on some. - Green flack jacket + Emblems on shoulders. - Brown top under flack jacket. - Beige pants. - Brown boots.
I really dont know what else to tell ya.

Go down to your local store and ask. Also, thats very close to the cadian scheme, so if you honestly dont want a cadian painted army try some other colours.

i really think the cadian scheme is pretty striking myself. the green/tan pants makes it very easy to utilize washes for the majority of shading.
when ii paint, ill give the pants and sleeves a coat of desert yellow, paint the face drawf flesh, then use the ogryn brown wash on it all.
when dry, i drybrush the pants and shirt sleeves with bleached bone. then, ill paint the body armour and shoulder pads goblin green. from there, i will go to my pot of pre mixed catachan green wash, which youll have to experiment with to get to the perfect consistancy. i wash over the goblin green once, sometimes twice, and then you can just go ahead and add the black details, the face highlights and your about done.
its real easy and a whole troop of green cadians is neat looking IMO. the only other thing that makes it better is using a complimentary color to add little details, like the lining around the shirts and sleeves to make them stand out. with my units, i paint the officers with said details in a scab red, and then use green and red for my commissars, as to look like a soviet type army. to me, thats the most realistic coloring an army of tens of millions of troops like the imperium would use.
i was about to purchase some vostroyans today and paint them in the same scheme to match my army, but i ended up getting some inquisition units instead.
