How does a Brit. army with crusader fatigues sound? (I kinda pictue Brit. as a religious country)

Brets are... kinda religious. They have the lady of the lake and some nature gods. They're no empire in terms of religion. I do think that they took part in the crusade on Araby though...

A friend of mine painted his Errants like that, but obviously avoided crosses. There were also a lot of different types of Crusaders and they wore wildly different clothing. Usually the only thing that counted as a "uniform" was a tabard with a cross on it. The Holy Orders were a bit more regimented, but even then each had its own different heraldry ex. Templars wore white, Hospitalers wore black.
In some ways this kind of seems to defeat one of the beauties of a Bret army, that each Knight is unique. One of the things I loved about painting my Brets was that each guy was his own separate painting challenge. Things didn't get old.
Of course I say this even though most of my Bret army is made up of infantry. Yeah, it's a crazy list, but no one ever expects it and it's ridiculously effective.
If you're looking for zeal though, the Empire's a much more religious country.

Bretonian Peasantry ftw. But yeah, it would probably be easier to make a crusader army out of the Empire. as each one is regimented, and the Knight units can represent Hospitalers, Templars, Teutonics etc. With the State-Troops as the standard foot men of the armies.
But if you want an army like the one like in Kingdom of Heaven, then Brets might be the way to go, if you dont mind very strictly regimented people.
