So, I went and spent a small fortune starting an imperial guard army. I'll let the following picture do the talking: Yeeees... crazy indeed. Anyway, with this playground of bits I had to kick the project off with something fun, so I converted myself a Commie to keep the Conscripts in line: I'll be keeping a log of my progress over on Warseer, you're welcome to drop by and have a look here Cheerios!

Awesome work, man! That's one of the best IG-related militia sprue conversions I've ever seen! The basing only adds to the character of the commissar. Excellent work all around!

I commend you! Awsome conversion! If only i'd thought of this! In fact, i'd do it myself. Gotta get rid of at least SOME of my free company. Got too much on my hands at the moment.

Thanks all! parahopeful, the arm is from the tank commander (demolisher kit in this case), same as the head.

And the new guy shows us up.......! Welcome! Great entrance! Thats a sick conversion! I especially like the base ;D Could you write a list of the parts you used? i recognise some, and have no idea with some of the others!
If you paint as well as you convert Im sure this will be a masterpiece!

Sure! Legs: Cadian Torso: Empire Free Company Head: Demolisher tank commander Right arm: Demolisher tank commander Left arm: Empire Free Company. Hand severed at the wrist Hand: Free Company again, I think. Weapon (apart from hilt) removed Pistol: Demolisher tank commander Swords (he's got a pair on his back - you can just make out the hilt of the longest one above his left shoulder): uuhhh... Empire State Troopers would be my guess. It came from the bitz box. Dead guy on base: WHFB Giant kit, he's the bloke running scared. Just lay him down face first and drill a hole in his back! Dead guy's rifle (for the sake of completeness): tank kit... but as you know, they're everywhere. Add glue, bake for half an hour and you've got yourself a commie! I do love that base too, it will surely be the sex when it's done. And I'm a better painter than converter by a long shot, so yes, it *will* be good go back a page in this very forum, and you'll find pics of my Guardsmen (be sure to scroll down, the first ones are test minis and look like crap). Alternatively, you can find them in my Warseer log - link is right underneath the WIP commie pic, in case you missed it. Right then, time to get paintin'!

Really nice conversion. But why did you give a commissar a lasgun? (and yes it is a lasgun with folding stock like the Steel Legion uses it too) Other than that really great

las-carbine ?
I agree he is an awesome Commissar but I think he needs a bigger gun, a bolt pistol at least.

Lasgun with folding stock. A carabine is a completely different sort of weapon. Carabines are shorter in general, especially shorter barrels. But this one has the same size as a lasgun, but just has the hard stock replaced by a folding stock to save space and time to ready the weapon on cost of accuracy as long the stock is folded

My bad. I just figured that since it was smaller than a regular lasgun, it was a laspistol, and I'll just play it as such. if I do happen to play someone who's completely anal about WYSIWYG, I've got bigger problems anyway. The Sarge with the chain-halberd and bird (but no actual gun) comes to mind...

I thought the barrel was just a bit shorter, but on closer inspection I realize you are absolutley correct, it is simply a lasgun with a folding stock.
anyway, if your worried about WYSIWYG, get a few holstered pistols, should find at least one on the tank commander spurs I believe.

You should only be in trouble when your opponent knows the Steel Legion minis as all with Lasguns have those your commissar has. Otherwise you're fine
