Great cannon army, good or not?

Just wondering whether an army with 3 great cannons would be any good?

Totally depends on what you're facing...
Against some armies that might do wonders against others you'll most likely fail... horribly...

I'm inclined to go cannon heavy in my army as well, at least two of them would be neat, supported by long thin lines of hand gunners with skirmishers in front to meet with the advancing enemy, I think it would work all well and good in theory but I'm just now getting into WHFB and haven't even played a whole game yet.

Same hear, Iwant to get into it because my mates play, and the new guard codex isn't here yet, and I'm fed up of playing smurfs, and the empire are so kool!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 Great cannons is ok but if you take a great cannon and a helstorm you get the best of both worlds, trust me it works great.

yea helstorm is awesome but my personal favorite is the hell blaster ever know what if feels like to blow a unit of 10 chaos knights of the board in one go... you will with the helblaster volly gun... ah, good times,good times.

the helstorm for me doesnt work for me it scatters the opposite way i want it to go... but if it hits by by heavily armoured stuff

3 Great cannons is pathetic!

4 Great cannons and two helstorms is more like it .

Some advice to budding empire generals: Gunlines may look awesome, but they are terribly boring to play and you won't get many opponents willing to play you. State troops should be in units of around 25 give or take a few, so you can lose some guys to missile fire, but still get the rank bonus. Swordsmen are currently the best option for infantry, high AS, better WS and I than the other two. Halberdiers are currently the worst option.

Detachments of 9 swordsmen in 3x3 are excellent, take them.

Units of 5 Knights with just a musician are excellent units able to divert enemy, block march moves, lead frenzied people on a merry dance and lure out deadly fanatics.

Also do please note that if you take Swordsmen rather than Halberdiers, you're a very very very very boring and utterly lame person who will live a horrible life and die young. Unless you come up with a fluffy reason, but you're still going to be a boring person who makes the rest of us look bad.

And if you take an Arch Lector who has stolen Volkmar's War Altar, Horus himself will reach down from the lightning-cracked sky and pluck the soul from your body.

And if you take two Steam Tanks at any time, or one in anything below 1500 pts, you're most definitely going to hell.

Still though, I guess that in 7th edition WHFB where everything is cheese and nothing is sacred, you're going to need all the cheese of your own that you can muster. However, even if your finely detailed fluffy army of Halberdiers get smashed apart, you can always laugh your opponent in their face and bully them for having a silly overpowered army no near as cool as yours.

I get very aggressive when it comes to WHFB, so please ignore my harsh language, I meant most of it as some kind of joke.

Well take gunline and you live a very lonely life. Unless you play vs summoner armies or really heavy and fast stuff
