Cheers Westrider, glad to see you havent gone AWOL! I'm glad you like it - sorry bout the face. I was a little bit short of parts when I was knocking him together, and it was the only head I could find with a bandana
No worries. I think there's only the one head with the bandanna over the top instead of just around like a headband anyhow. Regardless, it game out nice. Thanks again!
Thanks for the compliments guys, and glad you like it Stannarkvar ;D
ReWolf - One day, one day, I'm going to paint a model without any mould lines at all, and meet your standards Can't believe I missed the one on his hand though, I thought I'd done pretty well!
Next up is a non-roll-caller, my first bash at making my regiment a mixed one. Not sure what I reckon - the head seems a little small, and I think possibly due to my GS skills, looks a bit like a monkey. Ah well, live and learn...
I'm still experimenting with bases - what d'you think of this style?
That was a pretty zippy response, Req, thanks! I've put up a couple of pics from other angles too now.
I was originally going to follow Trygon's guide to making female cadians, but then I decided that if I'm making a lot of these guys, I just don't have the time for such an ambitious conversion. I'll see about thinning down the arms on the next one though...
Thanks for the base comments - I was thinking of her stepping around the edge of a ruined building, but I see what you mean. I might respread the debris if I get a chance

The Ministry is always watching.
I've read that guide, and I think it's a lot of work for something that will only be really appreciated in pictures, and not during a game. Sad as it is, if you want someone to notice that you have female IG, they need big boobs and long hair. Otherwise, you may end up having someone say, "Oh, you were playing with chicks? I didn't know."
You... me... my basement...

Hahaha, thanks SHG, butthe head's actually from Hasslefree Miniatures! You can buy blank heads from them and sculpt on the hair and ears The scale sems to be a little smaller, but I think it'll look better if I slap on a cadian helmet...
really nice face, and for the body it 's not a problem for me. I often work with women with undercloth bulletproof vest + heavy bulletproof vest added and a helmet and from a distance of 3 metters you wont see the difference with a man (maybe except from the fact they're most of time smaller than guys). I dont think that female guard should have long hairs, just not usefull to get hairs in front of eyes on a battlefield. Working on the face only to give it the "girly touch" is for me the best way to do the job. After this i agree that it wont be easily seen on the table that you're playin girls...
Mmmm, I thought of that, but there are loads of troops without helmets within the remnants, and I just wanted a few of them to be women so I can imply the rest Totally agree with you on the heads pack though - I think it would probably be one of their best selling blisters in the end!
@elniko - Thank you so much for the kind words, and the advice too! I've heard that from a few people in the services, and i did NOT want the 'green stuffed metal boobs' look that some people seem to go for with their cadians The mixed unit is more to fit my fluff than for the tabletop anyway - no reason to exclude women in a band of survivors, right? ;D
Possibly a sentinel next in the line, though after my exams on friday
Alright, this isn't quite finished, but this is the last I can do on it for about a week, so I figured I'd post anyway. This is my first attempt at a bunch of new techniques, including air brushing (turns out black was a really bad choice of primer : and using weathering powders. I've still got to make a GS strap for his lasgun (I'm out of gs!), magnetise the gun and matte spray the whole thing. These aren't the best pictures in the world, but it's after August in Scotland, so we won't be seeing the sun for another 6 months or so What do you think?
Also, has anyone got any experience using GW's purity seal? I tested it on one of my worst painted guard (Oldman gladly stepped up for the job) and it frosted the crap out of him. Am i doing something wrong?
Thanks so much ReWolf! That means loads coming from you! And arg, that sentinel. It was the first thing I ever painted way back when in March - I thought I'd buried it in the archives!
Cheers again though! It's advice from you guys that helps me improve ;D
Ho God I forgot it was March ;_;. In 8 months you've done what took me 4 years... heheheh. You need to start with some new techniques. Blending and whatnot (Esp. now you have that tub for a wet palette )
