Just wondering which one of these takes your fancy. For stats and figures see the IG codex leak topic (page 8)
I for one will be rooting for yarrick! in the new dex I'm sure we'll see more of him!
please get posting!

You need an option for none! The special characters are cool, but kind of lead you into one kind of fluff, right? I'm still in two minds about them.

I will take Nork and Nork only (at least that's the way I'm leaning) becuase I don't want my commander to be a name character, I want to use my own figure for him

I feel the same way you do...there needs to be another option IMO. I don't plan on using any. Now Granted once I get caught up with my current unit and re start my Deathworld Veterans then I may consider using them. But until that day come's my answer remains as none.

Yarrick was always my favourite. He's the most distinctive IG character around.

Well glven that l just flnlshed convertlng both creed and kell l lntend to use them when posslble. l expect that creed wlLL be able to do some serlous orderlng (maybe he mlght have a speclaL order) and kell wlLL hopefully remaln the economlcal almost-badass that he currently ls. Any way you shake lt, 2 speclaL characters for less than a stock chapter master ls hard to beat.

Having seen the book I will go for the Special Character that has not been mentioned. He is an upgrade for a Leman Russ like the Space Marine character but does not survive if the vehicle is destroyed.

Characters that should be in there...the heroes who will be missed : Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt: I bet you his orders would have been along the lines of... For Tanith and Vervunhive!: all units who pass their Ld test gain rending and Feel No Pain He will be sorely missed Lord Solar Macharius: I bet you he would have looked kinda like this... Into the Jaws of Hell!: all units who pass their Ld test gain furious charge and fleet... He'd have his original wargear and be able to give 4 orders per turn I don't think there's any others, but those two would be great in the codex...I'm gonna go cry some more...

I think that Gaunt is a loss we will all be sad about.
I especially loved the 50 man conscript squad with gaunt in the previous dex' 50 fearless conscripts with extra attacks. But i suppose he will still be doable, just as a commissar lord with some suitable wargear. But yeah his loss will be sorely felt.

You could still do Gaunt's Ghosts style units! here's my idea, it's simple: Use a Commissar lord as your H.Q choice, and use the Gaunt model (buy it while you still can! ) For troops, because they're elite, use hardened veterans with the camo cloaks, and give them flamers and melta guns and snipers. Equip your commissar lord with a bolt pistol and a power sword, and although you won't have a camo cloak, you can attach him to a veteran unit and infiltrate with them! This is, obviously, assuming that all the rumours of our new 'dex are true...

9,000 guardsmen in an outflanking unit! Al'Rahiem is the epic win. Period.

9,000? really?
who the hell has that many guardsmen!?
I don't plan on using characters at the moment...
though I may... and if I do I am going to convert it from another model and give him a name of my own and a new backstory.

It's been almost 5 years since was the last time I used a special character. Creed and Straken are good canditates but I have to see the codex/options for normal command squads to see if those extra points are worth it.

I know I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but... Gaunt. And Macherius. But it is time to look ahead! To a new codex, and rejoice! Chenkov and Straken FTW!

I think we all knew that there was a 90% chance that Macharius wouldn't make the cut. He is epic and deserves all of our highest regards but he's from the 35th millennium. This is WH40k in the 41st millennium. In our terms thats ancient history. But it does go to show what a well motivated and superbly led guard force can achieve.
His memory will live on GLORIAM MACHARIUS!

I'm not voting because one special character was left out of the codex. (Hint: My namesake)
At least we have some new and hopefully some upgraded characters.

Oh, they're upgraded alright! Creed: 24" command zone with a furious charge and fearless order, 4 order per turn, 4+ save, and a twin-linked Ap3 pistol! Yarrik: bale eye is useful, counts as Ap3 lasgun, 3+ "get up" save, 4+ regular save, fearless, furous charge (or something like that : and FNP! Straken: Strong enough to wound an MEQ on a 2+ and still at I3, great against 'crons, and the T of marine, ignores armour saves, strikes as an MC, and bionics! Oh, yea, I forgot about his THREE PLUS SAVE!!! Al'rehim: outflanking platoon cheese Chenkov: Give up, you can't kill all of them Nork: haha! Try and kill my command squad now, jack ass!!! not to mention, an assortment of squad upgrade characters!

yeah Nork makes me happy. high Toughness multi wound goodness. and Creed just looks awesome, orders are gonna be cool as it is but one guy giving out 4 per turn, and thats not taking into account his "personal order" Furious charge and fearless. One word painful. i also love Al'Rahm simply because an outflanking PLATOON is sure to be very painful for anyone. SM player: what? why aren't you playing that platoon? IG player: *taps his nose* you'll see MWAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
