my latest attempt at a DE list, perhaps my best DE list so far with lots of dark lances and a whole bunch of terrorfexs(for those of you who don't know, a terrorfex is a weapon that uses the small blast to cause pinning with a -1 modifier for every model hit by the template)
Dark Eldar
~HQ~
Archon agoniser splinter pistol shadow field=106
5 incubi with incubi master terrorfex 2 warriors 1 dark lance=189
raider=55
~elites~
10 wyches with succubus agoniser terrorfex combat drugs wych weapons=198
raider=55
~fast attack~
5 reaver jetbikes with reaver succubus agoniser terrorfex combat drugs 2 shredders=231
~troops~
10 raiders sybarite terrorfex 1 dark lance raider=166
10 warriors 2 dark lances=100
10 warriors 2 dark lances=100
total 1200
so yeah...my DE usually get splattered...so I'll be proxing all my splinter cannons as dark lances and try to cause pinning on as many squads as possible, a tactic I have sadly never used before...which hopefully is one of the reasons I have never won a game with my Dark Eldar.

I'm always surprised to hear people say they play DE. Of all the races in 40K DE seem to get the least love from GW. As a player do you know if a new 'dex is in the works? They really need it -- they're supposed to be the fastest army, but they're still too under powered and under armed for it to be effective against armies w/ real hitting power in most cases. They do have some nifty toys and nice special characters, though.
Hey, what's your opinion of the talos, as a DE player?

I am one of those rare noob DE players that still plays them despite getting horribly massacared time and time again... (come to think of it...maybe I have won a game in the handful or so games I have played...yeah...warrior and raider spam in a 500 point list.)
but my last few attempts have been very grim...as in I lost all my warriors due to a failed ld test and watched in horror as 15 warriors scampered off the table after losing 5 to a whirlwind in turn 1
all I could do was hang my head in shame.(where are my beloved commissars when I need them!*)
they will punish you if you do anything stupid, they seem to enjoy punishing the player almost as much as the opponent(or more!)
I keep at it because I play this game for the fun of it and winning always comes second to that in my book
still it stings a little when you lose by a landslide
oh well, perseverance is the key, once I master my horde of pointy little fiends the galaxy will tremble!
that or I hold out long enough for a new codex and things will get a little easier...(trust me I'll be ready.)
as for the Talos...well...I have personally never used or seen one yet, but it looks pretty nasty on the page.
(*plotting to shoot me for this vile xenos heresy no doubt)

I'm not quite sure when/where i heard this but is it possible to combine dark eldar and eldar in on army. Not quite sure how the FOC would be set up for each but it would be an interesting concept

apocalypse or two detachments using two FOCs is the only way I know of...

That's kind of my point -- they look sick-nasty on the page, but no-one uses them... I want to know why? In the book I read, it makes deathwatch marines into tastycakes. Granted in the books, the IG are the end all ultimately unstoppable force that may lose battles, but never wars...

just found a place to buy bright lances..so I think I'm gunna get out the clippers and do some conversions..
and I'm thinking I might want to keep assault weapons in my raiders because troops can't fire heavy weapons while on the move inside a transport...which makes those extra lances a waste I fear
so here is my new revised full list using everything I have...(get ready for some shockers!)
Dark Eldar
~HQ~
Archon +agoniser +splinter pistol +shadow field +hellmask +trophy rack=116
5 incubi with incubi master +terrorfex 2 warriors +1 splinter cannon=184
raider=55
Haemonculus +destructor +stinger +terrorfex=60
~Elites~
5 grotesques=75
6 mandrakes=60
10 wyches with succubus +agoniser +terrorfex +combat drugs +wych weapons=198
raider=55
~Fast Attack~
5 reaver jetbikes with succubus +agoniser +terrorfex +combat drugs +2 shredders====231
~Troops~
10 warriors +2 dark lance=100
10 warriors +2 dark lance=100
10 warriors +2 dark lance=100
10 raiders with sybarite +poisoned blades +terrorfex +blaster +raider===166
total 1500
I've never actually used the grotesques or the mandrakes in a game, they are conversions of bits and pieces from other projects(in the case of the grotesques) and conversions of dark eldar warriors(for the mandrakes)
all of the lances and the blaster still need to be made, anyone have any thoughts on what would make a good blaster conversion?(R12 S8 AP2 assault1*lance)

Is the blaster a pistol or rifle lookin' thing? I would so use a laspistol, just to see peoples' reactions. But scratch-building pistols is hard. I gave my SM captain the pistols from Trigun... not easy to do.

it is sorta a compact assault weapon
I think I'm going to use a splinter cannon as a base and cut the barrel off and replace it with the tip of an eldar bright lance
so it'll look like a short verson of my converted dark lances, which it is (same stats minus range)

here are my dark lance conversions, pretty simple but effective I think, looks like a laser lance weapon to me.

Nice. Seamless work. I wouldn't even know they're converted, as I don't see those minis often.

For blasters I used the tip of a kroot rifle and splinter rifles. It worked out well because alot of my rifles broke in my high quality gw figure case. In my opinion the Talos is very vulnerable and slow. Its great against squads without power weapons. There anti tank isn't so great. instead of d6+1 atks they have one big hit which usually doesn't do much. Mandrakes are now useless in my opinion. They did there job in 4th holding objectives. I guess you could use them to contest. Take a full squad of grotesques with an IC cause of "stupid" lol. They will force your opponent to to shoot high strength weapons cause of there special "feel no pain." I would lose the DL in the squads. You really want to keep them mobile. Maybe keep one squad behind with DLs. For anti tank I would definitely get Ravagers. It would be a good idea to use nightshields on the ravagers. Scourges with Splinter Cannons also make a good anti-infantry. 4 assault 4 weapons moving 12" a turn. ;D Something interesting to try with your Archon. Give him a punisher, tormentor helm, combat drugs, and Animus vitae. After he kills his first victim he can possibly have 6 atks at initiative 7 and at strength 6. Makes him 125 points but the HQ for Dark Eldar usually is expensive. Sorry for the long post
