I like all about the Leman Russ and Chimera except for ONE very little design flaw that would cost alot...
If you consider the actual weight of a battle tank you would understand that it acutally sink down in the ground alittle. And thats were the problem comes in... If a Leman Russ would be unloaded on a football field it wouldn't be able to move at all. It is too heavy and the tracks doesn't have eoungh free space up to teh side of the hull. The tracks would just spinn around and the it would stand on it's side hull.
Take a look both the Leman Russ and Predator from the side and you'll se what I mean...

hah no doubt, I have thought the exact same thing - total lack of suspension (I was a mechanized infantryman when I was in the service and spent alot of time driving tracked vehicles so I had to repair and understand tracked vehicle suspension quite a bit). if they actually made a vehicle like that anyone in the turret would have soooo many broken ribs if they tried to ride sticking out of the top hatch from the vehicle jerking and smashing about from lack of suspension the baneblade would work though

Glad that someone else also has seen the little design flaw. And yes, the Baneblade would most likely be able to move. It would at least be able to get of the football field. ;D

The Chimera looks like a Soviet T-34. As far as the Leman Russ goes...I just put one together and it is crazy...just crazy!

The IG are using ancient technology thats been used for thousands of years. Their equipment is easy to build and cheap so it can be mass manufactured.
On the other hand the technology that goes into most of the Space Marines equipment is more advanced but the plans to build this equipment has been lost.
Most of the Space marines equipment has be carfully repaired over thousands of years because Mankind has lost the technology to build new Terminator Armour, Landspeeders and Dreadnoughts etc so each time one is destroyed it is lost for good.
The tech priests on Mars see all new or Alien technology as evil (remeber they worship the Machine God) so even an improvment of an old design is treated with suspicion and can take hundreds or even thousands of years to get approved (if it gets approved at all) and can take as long again before it reaches full production.
Squats were the only humanoid race that tried to develop new technology which is why they had some amazing gear. (yes I'm that old) I had an IG land speeder (blast from the past) and my HQ drove around in a landraider.

I Actually still Have One of those Speeders (yes, Half of my IG Force are Converted from the old 'Rouge Trader' Models) as I got into 40K during Those 'Rouge Trader' Days ... hell, I can remember when IG were allowed to use Land Raiders too ... I kinda Miss those days (thus why I'm kinda working on a Deamonhunter Detactment for my Growing Force) ... Hell, I Still Even Got my Full Squat Force .. Mental Note, Take pics of that Army and Post it here for you All to see ...
Someone Mentioned about chimera's Having Legs Earlier .. I've Seen That Actually .. During a Tournament Here in Toronto I saw one IG player use a unique looking Hellhound that He converted With Legs instead of Tracks .. It was Pretty damn cool looking
Oh, by the way ... HI EVERYONE .. - waves like a Board newbie -
