I've spent a good portion of the day looking at Forge World's newest news letter on their site, drooling over what may be the coolest super-heavy vehicle I've ever seen!
THE GORGON!
Oh I LOVE this thing, have you seen it? Go see it!! The anti-infantry one has 2 turret mounted twin-linked heavy stubbers and 4! Sponson Heavy Bolters! The heavier version features mortars! .. Mortars? On a vehicle? Eh whatever, it's COOL!
50 model transport capacity! I love it!
The thing to me looks like a tracked Higgins Landing Craft, the kind used on Normandy and countless other battles in the pacific. This thing has so much potential.
Armoured companies can now fesibly throw down a company of infantry, a nice change over having 10 or 20 at most sometimes, if any. Infantry companies now have a big hulking mass to move all their men from one side of the board to the other while still laying down a heap of surpressing fire.
My mind is coming up with thousands of scenarios for this bad boy, I see this being far more effective than even other super-heavy vehicles. A baneblade might have 11 weapons, but it's still one target (with worse armor than a Land Raider) once it dies it's dead, but this sucker gets killed and it just barfs out a veritble buttload of infantry into the face of the enemy. This might be just the thing those melee guard armies need to make their force work.
I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Imperial Armor volume 5. I can only imagine all the goodness that thing has! That'll be my next purchase for sure. It can't come soon enough! I'll finally have another book to lug around with my IA 1. I think I'll have a chain put on it so I can wear it around my neck and whip it out.
