Hi there I may not have mentioned it but my little brother is also into 40k and plays a Tau army.
Anyway he reccently bought the Tau battlesuit commander and is wondering which of the weapon loadouts would allow him to cull infantry, we do not have the codex just now but are getting it this weekend.
Any help much appreciated.

There are many combinations that would allow that.
This is assuming he takes a Shas'O with one support system or a Shas'El with Targetting Array (Both hit on 2+) and a Hard Wired Multi-Tracker
Cyclic Ion Blaster/Burst Cannon Burst Cannon/Plasma Rifle Burst Cannon/Missile Pod Burst Cannon/Flamer Cyclic Ion Blaster/Flamer My personal favorite, Cyclic Ion Blaster/Plasma Rifle
It really all depends on what he wants his Commander to do. I personally run my Shas'O with Cyclic Ion Blaster/Plasma Rifle/Shield Generator with HW Multi-Tracker and give him two Bodyguards with Plasma Rifle/Burst Cannon and Targetting Array, HW Multi-Tracker. This squad will shred just about any type of infantry that gets thrown at it.

I've found twin-linked missile pods to be very effective against medium infantry. Other than that, I would probably go with twin-linked burst cannons for chopping up Orks or Guard.

Twin-Linking Burst Cannons on a Commander never appealed to me, as he is already hitting on two's (depending on his support systems.) But I do like Deathrains (twin-linked Missile Pods for those playing the home game), just prefer to run them as a two man unit with Flamers in the third hardpoint with a Team Leader with HW Target Lock.
And that config I posted, Has slaughtered a Nob unit, their Trukk, and put 2 wounds on the Warboss accompanying them. But again, it comes down to how gutsy do you want to be with your Commander, as well as what you plan on doing with the rest of your force.

You don't even need 7 flame templates to do that...2-3 work just as well...

When assembling the model however I would not recommend gluing any of the weapons or support systems in place.
Play around with different combo's and see what he likes best. The only time I would advocate gluing is if you absolutely positively sure that's the configuration you want (like my Bodyguards are in the Blinding Spear configuration (Plasma Rifle/Burst Cannon) and they will always use that.)

Yeat a squad of 50 Conscripts will tear through them like melted butter.
Got to love the little girlscouts. Can't tell you how many cookies they sold to the tau.
And Yeah Red Dwarf for the win.

Dude twin linked or not you are only able to effect the number of models under the template.
There are plenty more of them where they came from too.
