Thanks for doing the girls as Rough Riders, they're all really excited about it. Here are 3 more slots for you to fill. Vet Sqd A. Vet Sniper. Surname "Sharkey". Very well camouflaged up and with a Laspistol in holster attached horizontally to the back of his belt and with binos. Caucasian skin and short light brown hair. Vet Sqd C. Vet with Flamer. Surname "Joseph". A Catachan looking bloke with an orange bandana or neckerchief. dark glasses or goggles and a cigar hanging out of his mouth. Tanned skin and short dark brown hair. Sentinel Pilot. Surname "Cuffs". Could you bring yourself to have a 1:48 scale German Shepherd running in advance of the sentinel? Have a look ant this link and you'll see a pic of me and and Explosives sniffer dog. Just do what you see so long as it fits your unit. commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Music&action=display&thread=6426&page=34And if any opponent doesn't mind, the dog (called Duski) counts as an extra weapon in CC and will navigate the sentinel safely through minefields and dangerous terrain. or counts as a searchlight 'cos Duski was great at night. Nothing could even fart without her letting us know. I think it would be a nice tribute to Duski who kept me and my mates safe whilst out in the pit.

No problem, redcuffs! Though like I said, my list is pretty long now, so it may be a while to get round to the girls... It's a challenge though, which may bump it up the order a little bit I'll get your new requests up (I love the idea for your own man - I'll do my utmost to make it a good one!), what do you think of one of these models for Duski? I'm not sure how big 1:48 is... If you could post an extra pic or two I can try my best to get the colours right too (guardsman included for scale) @vice-Shogun Himura - Sounds cool, but what position were you after?

Cheers Scarper, I can't find any more pics of Duski, I think I lost them when my old external hard drive got "lost" (nicked). She was just yer usual black and tan GSD. Very good pedigree from South Africa.
That model you put up is perfect.
I noticed you have quite a few dogs in the Remnants so if you want any more names of war dogs that actually existed then just ask. I can give you a bit of a history of each one, what they were good at and maybe even a photo too. Thanks again.

No probs, Redcuffs - a friend of mine used to have a pretty similar GS, so I'm sure I can work it out I'd love any names you've got if you'd be happy to give them - so far I've got 14 mutts helping out the Remnants, and I've only named 4 of them @vsh - Cheers! I'll get your request up now!

OK mate, here you go, Not all these were on the books or officially trained dogs but they are the ones foremost in my mind.
RAGS (or Raggy to his friends). Skinny mongrel a bit smaller than a GSD, short haired white and muddy brown, always dirty. Rags was a stray adopted by Anti-Tank Platoon of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders in W.Belfast in 1990.
The local domestic dogs would sometimes attack the guys on patrol, they'd always threaten at least but Rags saw the A+SH as his pack and would put himself between any aggresive dog and us. You'd always see the attacking local dog stall and think twice before continuing.
He'd not attach to one team but satelite all four teams out on the ground and always turn up when needed. As soon as a local dog started up barking it would only be a matter of seconds before Rags would turn up at full pelt like a blurry four-legged, hairy torpedo.
Sugested special rules. Fast moving independant Character that can take away the initiative of any charging enemy unit so long as he's in range and can turn up in time. And extra CC attack. Or something like that.
As a stray Rags didn't get any inoculations as a pup and became ill a year later and had to be put to sleep.
Sparky Looked a lot like Rags, also an adopted stray but in Bosnia 1996. Not sure what Sparky was good for other than morale so maybe he could give +1 to leadership? Actually he was pretty good at scrounging for food. Chasing rats too but not sure if he ever caught any?
Sparky was handed over to the next squadron who took over from us.
Damn, that took longer than I thought, I'll have to give you the others later mate.

Sorry about the delay, I'm back on shifts and it's just work, sleep, eat, work, sleep, work, crap, work sleep.
SO i'm on a break now but it's too early to eat.
[glow=red,2,300]"DIABLO"[/glow] GSD all black.
This dog was absolutely a canine genius. he could detect Explosives and Firearms, track and attack. And he was good at everything, really a canine Marbo. A bit bad tempered at times but the way around that was to say his name several times before entering jaw range. Even though he took a chunk out of my right thigh after I inadvertantly approached him from behind (without calling his name) he was the best dog I'd ever worked with so I'd love it if he could be included as one of Ridgeways crew.
Diablo had to be put to sleep after wounds sustained from a suicide bomber in Baghdad in 2006. His handler died almost instantly.
I believe I have a photo in an old email of him getting flea tretment but I'm not sure if the email still exists.
Break due to finish and I expect a shout any time now. the other two dogs are Nitro and Luxo, I've got pics of them two at home so I'll post them up when I'm off tommorrow.

Here are a couple of pics of LUXO. Loxo is pretty much the same as Duski exept He's a He, not a She. As far as I know both he and Duski are still sniffing out explosives in The Pit Handlers face obscured to protect the guilty.

And lastly we have "Nitro"Nitro was given to one of our crews sa a gift from some Bedouine in return for water, food and some medical aid. One of their dogs had just produced a litter and they gave us the first born (should have called him Vostroyan). Instead he was called Nitro because he would nap in the shade if the cool nitrogen truck. Nitro would not come back to base with us but would live on the oil rig. He would have to count as a search light or some other super sense because he was great as a night time early warning system, constantly patroling our area at night while it was cool, he'd sleep under the nitrogen truck in the heat of the day. After a rather unpleasant sequence of events Nitro is missing, presumed dead.

Cheers mate 45 today !!! Shame I act like I was 4 or 5 !!! As for a great day ... we'll see. I'm working 'til midnight so I expect some drunken clown to have some sort of self imposed personal alcohol crisis and feel he needs to call an emergency ambulance by the end of the night. I also expect him to vomit up all over me for my trouble, try to assault me, refuse all aid, attempt to drink the alcohol hand wash (don't try that at home kids !!!) then treat the ambulance like he would a taxi and do a runner as soon as we let him out at A+E !!! There again it might not be a bloke like that ... it could be a girl

Hey Scarper, I'd hate to clog up your thread with non-related crap ... but I'm going to anyway. Damn !!! Talk about a prophecy. Read the last line of my last post. Well, it was a girl. Born at 22:25 GMT. My first delivery since I came out of training last month. I'm still buzzing. I won't sleep tonight. I've just got home and I'm having a couple of little drinks. One for me, and one for Elouise. We share the same birthday.

That's awesome! I think you should stay away from commissars with your psychic abilities though... Fantastic time to do a delivery - they should have let you pick a middle name I've almost finished up a sentinel too (can't remember who it was for, but the name is 'Ulrich' - go check it out!

Yeah it was a bit of a freaky day. I'm not too sure if those good people would have wanted their beautiful little girl to have a middle name of "Nork Deddog".
Maybe ... but I'm not sure.

Freimann is up - give him a look if you fancy! Couple more vets from the same squad should be going up over the next few days, and if anyone wanted to fill in that lonely shotgunner slot, it'd probably get done pretty sharpish

I love Hunter S Thompson! I'll do my best to capture what I know about him. Though maybe it would be more appropriate to give him a shotgun...?
too soon?

Give him a shotgun, he would have wanted it that way.

RIGHT. Major update time guys - I'm afraid my forces have undergone a little bit of a reshuffle, and I've had to move a few people around. I've tried my hardest to keep it to similar roles to what everyone originally wanted, but please look over your place, and let me know if you want me to change it. MarkofTruth and Westrider: Your autocannon team is no longer in my army list, but if it's ok with you guys, I'd like to modify the models a bit so you can still Roll with the Remnants! Do you mind? At the mo I've got you down as guardsmen, but if you want a different task, let me know! Sorry bout this everyone, just decided to make my force closer to my fluff, and vehicles and heavy weapons don't really sit well with infiltration and scavenging specialists. Hope you understand! On a seperate note, had a bit of an epiphany today and realised that this thread is not only challenging me and keeping me interested in painting guard, but also making my army far more varied and interesting than it would have been otherwise. So thank you so much to everyone who has posted and inspired me, taking the time to do it has really kept me driven, and I owe you loads. To everyone who hasn't posted, the Emperor (and surviving remnants) need you! Thanks so much

I'm so sorry! You're still modelled with one, I've just reduced your promethium rations a little! You can still toast heretics, they'll just be sautee style instead of extra crispy
