So I want to make a hydra tank, so naturally i should get a chimera and maybe the aegis defense line for the autocannons. But I got to thinking the other day, "what if I got a Basilisk (which is mounted on a chimera hull) and put the autocannons on that?" Then i would have a spare earthshaker cannon to make into a sweet piece of terrain (bunker with artillery gun).
Only problem is, how well do you think that those autocannons would fit on a basilisk hull? I've never owned one so it's hard to tell from pictures. Opinions?

Unfortunately on the actual Hydra model the auto cannons are above the rest of the chassis. looksy: www.forgeworld.co.uk/hydra.htm I fear that if you put it in the bassie chassis it will drastically restrict movement; side to side and up and down.

What if I put the gun more towards the front? You're probably right though...

I personally don't see why not. Although the Forgeworld Hydra is mounted on top of the chassis, it certainly doesn't have to be. My intention is to use the old Griffon I have and mount it in the back there - including the base it comes on in the Aegis set. It will fit nicely and can be swapped out with no hassles or magnets. If it doesn't work, then hey, that's what plasticard is for!

I suppose that the aegis defence autocannons are higher than the normal ones. By all means do it if you want to. It probably will work, but I'm not sure why you'd want to put it in a basilisk hull. If you look at most AA tanks you can see that the turret is on top of the tank I guess to get the biggest line of sight possible, if you think the autocannons will poke out of the top then that will probably look quite good.
