just wanting some tips/advice on how i should base my cadians, i dont want to go the route of using flock as ive always done in the past as this wont fit with them, i think the base on its own looks fine so perhaps something dark and city like, maybe some rubble and such, or even just a wash to bring out the texture of the plain base, any ideas?

What most people do at GW (To my knowledge) is base them in sand before you paint the model, then prime it. Once the primer dries they dry brush it with numerous earth colors and add a little flock to it.

hmm sand that could work, although ideally i think this time i dont want to use anything that will rub off the base, so perhaps ill cut into it to create a paving effect like for paving slabs, or even some with just black with part of road markings on them as these are more of a city fight/urban type of theme.

That sounds like a good idea, you could use leftovers from terrain pieces?

The Basic tecture of the base look something like smooth ashalt as is maybe some lines marks and litle grey brush work.
