Just curious, how old does a thread have to be before you should start a new one? Every forum is different, and I'd like to know what constitutes thread necromancy around these parts.
And, in case you're wondering, I'm asking because of some recent posts in the beginner boards.
Thanks!

Heh thankyou for having the courtesy to ask... If you've something to contribute, I'd say anything up to 2 months. If it's to say 'cool!', then probably one week heh.

really annoying, how it is taboo on this forum to comment on a particularly impressive thread that is older than a week! Being new to the board people may wish to comment or ask questions on a relevant topic that they have been searching for!

However, commenting on something that is a few pages back means that new threads have less 'attention' and time on the front page. If you want to ask an author something like, "How did you paint that?" And the thread is pretty old, send them a PM.

I only happened across some EPIC threads (ie. 3ff3cts, Rewolfs conversion type threads) that bizzarely have not been stickied due to trawling through pages upon pages of threads! New users (like myself) would not join in the discussion / comment due to sheer amount of negative comments attraced for threadomancing something.
One should not feel bad for posting on something relevant (albeit a few pages back), for what is the use of a forum if you cannot post on topics of interest? As everyone must start the hobby at the begining so their questions opinions may be in relevant a topic that has been discussed by experienced memebers a while ago!
I can see the logic in not commenting on a 6 month old thread about *New releases to Black Reach*!
I suppose every forum is different, so will stop my rant here! But this is a bug bear of mine. Particularly when multiple threads have to be brought up around the same topic!

We didn't sticky Rewolf's conversion thread?
Odd. I'm sure I did....
Maybe we need a giant conversion thread. We also need a giant, unit-by-unit tactical guide.

Maybe we need a giant conversion thread. We also need a giant, unit-by-unit tactical guide. In a couple of weeks I have nothing to do but look after cats. This gives me lots of time to write up. Shall I start up an uberthread of conversions, or do we simply sticky 1 post with links to the most popular ones? If we have an uberthread, people lose their individual thread....ness. If we have links, we get threadromancy. Suggestions?

Lock the individual threads?

Maybe just make a general conversion thread that everyone can post conversion ideas up.
