Hey I was wondering if any of you brilliant tacticians could tell me a way to get more out of my Vindicare temple assassin?

A Vindicare doesn't need much tactics. You just have to pick the right targets and that depends on the situation and the enemy.
But assassins are a really nice thing, even if I prefer the Eversor and Callidus over the Vindicare and Culexus assassins.

Rules for Assassins can be found in the Daemon Hunters Codex. I think there are rules in the Witch Hunter Codex as well.
Vindicares are a fickly lot. You need to have good fields of fire with LOS in order to get the most out of them. I guess if the missions allow, you could use the infiltrate ability to get closer to the enemy and take some quick shots before you get nerfed or your enemy moves.
Having the Exitus rifle as a Hvy wpn sucks, but you also have the pistol that is a bit more reliable, eventhough it has a shorter range....
Take advantage of the stealth suit and put him 5 in. in cover so you get the advantage of making your opponent roll for night fighting and you get an improved cover save!
mmmkay, bye-bye, now!

as long as you keep him pretty far away from the enemy, he shouldn't take any return fire since your opponent has to roll to spot him as if night fight rules were in play. use your special ammo, pop those models that are higher than base points cost and he should recoup the investment in him pretty swiftly. you might also hit a light vehicle (armor 10 or 11 max) with that turbo penetrator round that is good for putting the hurt on light vehicles.
I'm a fan of the callidus personally, and with a guard army, the boosted melee potential of a callidus is attractive.

This is from my post on Anti Human tactics
As for assassins in your army at first yeah they look great but are a huge point sink. The vindicare with its ability to take out any model within range and line of sight is nice. But at what 110 pts is it worth it considering you have to take an Inquistor lord as well and at best youll get 6 shots off in a single game. If an Assassin is the way you want to go I would use the calidus. You can re-deploy an enemy unit at the begining of the game. Has a flamer that is str 9 that is worked out against the majority base leadership value of each unit. So its good against Guard and ok against SM. But again have to have an Inquisitor Lord and is a point sink at 120pts I have used both these assassins and they have come in handy and annoy my opponents however, in most games both were ineffective.

vindicares can be great against armies with mini-character sergeants (like the marine army I'm building). if the sergeants aren't anything too special it becomes less valuable to have a vindicare, but you can still snipe out things like (vs a guard army for example) officers providing iron discipline, demo charges, or, one of my personal favorites, cap the radioman then hit them with ratlings and watch as your opponent cries about being instantly reduced to Ld7 because he doesn't support his troops too closely with officers and doesn't do veteran sergeants because of his might vox network .. oh.. then mortar the squad if it still isn't pinned there's 101 different fun ways to use a vindicare and half the value they provide isn't counted by point value but instead by strategic value. example: oh I killed your demo charge? I guess I won't lose that whole squad! that kinda thing.

I like your way of thinking, Turtle. I haven't tried using my Callidus, but it sounds like fun. I usually end up using my Eversor assassin, all those CC attacks and with the gauntlet Tyranid Monsterous Creatures aren't that scary anymore.
Running a vindicare is definitely tough, especially against horde armies. But if use properly, can reap a huge benefit.
