"More like wade trooper. There more cultist on this planet than you could kill with a legion of Astartes." Jason grumbled.
"When's the ride over, I feel like sending some heretics to the judge!"

"Amen." Vince said at Jason's words as enthusiastically as he would at an eccleisarchy priest. "Some judgement and a can of woop-ass is just what im read to hand out like candy."

In the eternal twilight of the dank and sweltering underhive amid the city wide blocks of rubble and bombed out habitations the progression was slow and difficult to the point of mind numbing tedium. The Commissar brooded dark thoughts in a half meditative state, his perception focused on the sounds outside, his ears straining over the endless rumble of their armored transport. His asupex scanner was next to useless in the confines of the rumbling chimera and required a fairly stationary position to provide him with any kind of accurate reading and sometimes he wondered if the damn thing wasn't busted already, but a good knock to the side of the head usually chased off any phantom blips in the corner of his eye. He had thought about seeing a tech priest about it but he didn't much like the idea of one of those eerie mechanical corpses poking around in his face with their cold spindly fingers...he chuckled humorlessly at the irony as the scar tissue around his bionics started to itch.
The enemy guns had been placed well, the traitors had throngs of fanatical troops...a heresy on a gut retching scale...but at their core was a fanatical elite. Instances of ambush tactics and counter attacks almost always proceeded the swam and this was no different in defense. Auto cannon placements opened fire on the convoy hidden in the rubble under camo cloaks, more techno wizardry provided by allies in the Iron Warriors and Dark Mechanicum. The foul and corrupt astartes themselves had began to strike more ferociously and more frequently as the Imperial Guard offensive drove the righteous blade of the Emperor deeper into the black heart of Kalimus Hive.
Their Chimera was struck in the side of the left forward track and careened around wildly as it skidded to a haunt with a violent jerk then started billowing thick black oily smoke from under its side. Sterben was shaken and stumbled but managed not to fall and injure himself in the sudden stop, but he knew that was just the beginning of it...and as of right now they were all standing in what could very well soon be their burning coffin.
"All of you dead yet? No? Good...now gentlemen, I think our friends outside deserve some pay pack for their hospitality...see to it they get it." He sneered as he pushed his shoulders back and gave a look toward the lieutenant and the sergeants to give orders
In the smoke and gloom hulking figures in heavy plate advanced with defiled bolt guns raised at the ready as the fanned out around the injured transport at the spearhead of a counter attack against the side of the armored column as bursts from the auto cannon placements continued to pump shells into the formation of Imperial tanks.

Lucian climbed out of the wrecked Chimera, "Rest now worthy device you have done your duty." He began to move towards cover. He scanned his auspex. "Multiple contacts i'm getting massive power levels...this can't be right can it...i'm getting transponders coming up no no these can't be right"

"Gobsh'te!" yelled Drake, as he has thrown into the armoured side of the chimera, the impact hurling his heavyset frame like a ragdoll. "Driver, report!"
"We're under fire - lost left traction. We're dead in the water" reported the Valhallan, apparently quite unperturbed by the autocannon shells systematically chewing through the armour plating of his tank. "Enemy infantry spotted, advancing. Will provided suppression until you disembark. Go with the Emperor."
"And you sergeant" replied Drake, as he turned. "Out, you miserable dogs, out and at them!" Behind him, the deep-voiced, unliving roar of a heavy bolter erupted into flame and death, spitting high-explosive shells at the oncoming renegades. The high-pitched whine of a multilaser followed a second later, the eerie scream of high-energy lasrounds vaporising the air with their passage, as Drake picked up Trooper Heinbeck and threw her bodily from the transport, screaming and cursing.
A few moments later, and the entirety of Delta had disembarked in cover behind the mangled transport. Various members were huddled around the edges, taking potshots into the shadows moving in the smoke and haze beyond.
"Okay, here's the plan. Ponce, go and set up a firepoint there -" said Drake, pointing to a scorched, blackened barricade fifty yards behind them, where Nikolai's lead chimeras had just cleared out a renegade fire team. "I want Sterben,, and Kellion with me. Kerion, you're in charge of the rest. Hold position here until I've secured us some more permanent cover in that building" he said, pointing to a gutted hab-ruin, twenty metres to the left. Heinbeck, Tyrok - you're on fire support as well as Ponce. If it's in power armour, kill it dead. Rest of you, take out the renegades."
"Right. Kellion, Sterben - with me" he snarled, unlimbering his power axe for the first time, letting the massive, heavy blade hang in his palms for a moment, before igniting the energy field. In his left, the bulky, archaic naval pistol, hilt engraved with wood and bone, gunmetal-sheen dull and quiescent, as he sprinted towards the hab-block.

Lucian was only half listening to Drake as he listened to another transmission in his commbead, he subvocalised a brief binary cant to indicate he understood. He then set his las-carbine to it's highest possible power setting and steadied waiting for a clear target.

"Yes sir."
Isan was crouched behind cover, laying down a field of fire on the hapless traitors. Taking a glance at his power pack, he switched over to single shot, sending a bolt of energy straight towards those who were still brave enough to charge their position. He was after all, on his last legs in terms of ammo.

Lucian fired his motions was clipped precise and every shot hit home, but nothing could be expected from one such as he, he wasn't programmed to be a bad soldier.

Looking over the edge of the rock he was using as cover, Jack took a quick scan through the dust and chaos of battle to scan for any large thermal signatures which indicated a power-Armour's power drive. Finding about five of said signatures, Jack yelled over the chaos.
"Five Enemies in power armor!"
Just before firing quick bursts of plasma towards the figures now striding into view through the haze. Almost at once, the chaos traitors returned fire, the explosive shells impacting into Delta team's scant cover.
One of the figures was hit full-on by the plasma, and seemed to fall down, only to stand back up, holes visible where the plasma had impacted on the armor's tainted shell.

Ponce didnt so much as run as scurry out of the wrecked Chimera. It was unexpected, and his adrenaline was pumping already, carrying him forward inhumanly fast. Several bolt and auto rounds came close to hitting him in his rapid sprint, but his luck held and he made it to the barricade that Drake had indicated. Working as fast as he had run, he set up the bipod to his stubbed and his ammo chain made contact. He started filling the air with stub rounds and making impacts all over enemy lines. The Imperial Guard was outnumbered on this flank, despite the reinforcements. Still, they did what they could and kept fighting. Unleashing huge amounts of fire unto the traitor marines, he got them ducking at least. Not much his weaponery could do against them, but if they were scared of being hit, that was fine with him. "Drake! Enemy marines are ducking! Got any charges? We can flush them, sir!" He called out, not letting up with his own fire. By now, by this point in the campaign, he was running low on ammo. If they were going to do something, they had to do it now for as long as heavy fire support could last.

"Aim for the neck, it's a weak point in the older patterns of Astartaes plate, maximum charge on lasguns and if you have ap rounds in your solids i'd recommend switching."
Lucian sighted down his weapon and fired his round hitting an enemy marine in the side of the throat join, it tore the rubberised joint open and revealed a scarred and green adam's apple covered in little tentacles.

Jason looked past the Chimera and into the hills of rubble that made up the sides of the road.
"We're going to do this the simple way, since I expect you can keep your selves from getting shot too much, kill everything that isn't wearing an aquila!" Jason spoke to the group of men behind him. With those words he stood up and started firing his lasgun towards a autocannon emplacement.
