Aun'Va is the WORST special character I've ever seen. To top it off, he's like 200+ points.
Does this character have ANY redeming qualities?

He is a tau and like the rest of the tau they become tau patties to the Guard army.
Every army has their own over priced unit that someone thinks is a must have.

He's worthless unless you want to add flavor to your force. His honor guards are half decent in assault though, but other than that, no, he sure as hell is not worth his points.

They may have hooves but they're all just a bunch of fish'eds to me.
but maybe that's only because I've been hitting the fungus beer just a little too hard...
better start chasing it with a shot of squig liquor to get my mind straight.

After hitting the fungus beer it is better to chase a few skirts instead. Never mix alcohol....
Beer before liquer will make you sicker.

I wouldn't suggest eating Aun'Va. He's quite stringy and tough. Tau meat doesn't age well I guess.

If I remember correctly he gets hit with instant death from bolters which is highly entertaining. also I think he has some really fun special rulios

There's no ID from Bolters for Aun'Va.

Don't people let him die so that their army gets preferred enemy or something like that?
I know my Infantryman's primer say to shoot the Etherels.

If you take an Ethereal, sure. I see no reason to not let them die for Preferred Enemy. But I sure as hell am not gonna drop a 200pt. unit to sacrifice like that. Though the Furious Charge isn't a bad deal...Str. 4 fish...mmmmmmmmmmm...

Aun'Va - Old Tau (like ... 32) on a floating wheelchair with two 'pimped' guards and a paradox of 'we don't have psykers, but if we did it'd probably look like this' - yeah pants really.
Still Aun'Va versus Epidemius in a 'chair' war would be amusing.
Tau flapping hands would lose though.

The special Ethereal test states "Any unit that take this test gets the" Benifit.
Does this mean that any unit that is able to roll for the test, or is it those that actually pass it?
If it is any that make the roll as the sentence is written versus those that pass the test then there you have his role in the army. Put out 200+ points let him die all your units take the test and then they get the preferred enemy rule.
Otherwise, he is completely stupid.

He would be only useful in apocalypse games. Make sure those mafornicatein fire warriors don't start running at the first sign of trouble! Know what Im sayin?

Aun'va is only any good if you have a good terrain piece that he can sit in and give all tau a nice big re-roll for their bleeding leadership tests, oh and he makes 'em stubborn By the way in the Hammerhead entry is sayz dat da 'ammer 'ead 'as a targetting array then is sayz dat you can give it any upgrade , does this mean I can give it 2 targetting arrays so it is BS 5? if you can then those pesky monoliths had better run like pathetic wimps :-D

I suppose he is useful to combat mafornicateers like those Psyker battle squads that can make your expensive crisis suits run at the first sign of casualty.
