I'm just floating this up, would anyone be interested in doing a fallout based RP, setting would be in london and would be from the perspective of a group survivors who were able to hide deep in the underground which had been converted into a shelter, the brotherhood of steel and enclave wouldn't exist however thier British versions would have to be discussed and created here. Characters can be either a Vault Dweller, a survivor from the outside, i.e trapped outside a vault but survived due to mineshaft, hills, etc, A Ghoul non-feral, a robot with self determination programming. Also factions can exist. British raiders would probably be called Yobs and super mutants wouldn't be that noticable yet.
Weapons would be as fallout 3, reasonable choices, that means laser-pistols only for energy weapons and no fatmen.

Just a few advices...
Allow people to use most sensible modern day small arms. It's not like all the military forces in the world ran around with G3's, AK china clones and Mauser C96's. That will make the game a lot more flexible and realistic, rather than just a strict copy of a mediocre computer game.
You might also want to read up on Fallout 1 and 2. History, equipment, factions etc. It's a great source of information and the first games contain a hell lot more things and information than the third.
If you want to make it an advanced and prolonged RPG, I advise you to do the following things:
-Watch all the Mad Max films. -Play Fallout 1 and 2. -Read up on the last centuries firearm models, and other military hardware. -Get a good understanding on how firearms, stopping power, recoil, jamming and other related things work. Also read up a bit on human anatomy and how the body is affected by bullets, blunt trauma, cuts and other things. Just the basics. -For the love of Serpent Goddess, make ammunition work in a realistic way. You don't find "a bunch of rifle clips", you find some ammunition (probably not in magazines) that might or might not work for your weapon, depending on the calibre and models. This is also a good reason to get a good basic knowledge of common firearms. -Common firearms means weapons that could be obtained in Britain. You can tweak the reality a little of course, but don't allow people to show up with an obscure Taiwanese light machine gun. And even if you do allow them to run around with their precious high-tech foreign weaponry, make sure you remember that ammunition to them is most likely going to be impossible to find.
And a fellow GM advice, include things in the game that could reasonably have been in the Fallout games or other post apocalyptic fiction, but wasn't necessarily there. This will make the world feel more alive and less of a computer game (which are as media comes, very restricted as there's only so much equipment, areas and information you can add in them).
PS; Crossbows rock.

Played every fallout game, i'll allow reasonable weapons from the whole series. Obviously in Britain this means mostly shotguns and handguns either police or illegal, rifles and such would only be obtainable from military resources. Ammunition would be made an issue and every player would be restricted to finding ammo which they'd get given as a randomised number as well as posting thier ammo count in order to make it more interesting, i'd make it possible for characters to run out of ammo.

Alright, good luck with the game. I don't play RPG's that might include combat without a system and a GM, but feel free to ask if you need any help.

The combat would be reasonable ability, no godmodding. Unless people want to start rolling dice online, but then how will i trust them?

I know, on a forum simply writing what you do works a lot smoother. But it's a bit annoying that the things that people do are up to their own interpretation. Basically meaning that people sometimes do things that wouldn't really work in real life, because not everyone is on the same level of knowledge (especially when it comes to ballistic weapons and anatomy).
Not saying text based forum games aren't fun, I'm just pointing out the reason to why I personally wouldn't join. Because I'd be incredibly frustrated, haha.
And I realise I sound like an arrogant smartass, apologises.
