"Alien or not, I'll just be happy to know they weren't collecting tyranids as well as destroying them ." Jackson said.....
As he words set in he added "I'v seen them do it... i wish i knew why....." Lost in a train of thought he muttered things for a while... like "....artificial synapse...." and "....completely insane...."

"What, are you talking about. Are you paranoid the tau dont want the nids, as they are an agressive race that will eat anything they come across and by the looks of you have fought the nids many times."

After a short while, the Valkyrie jolted around for a while, before steadying out.
"Alright, we're free. Looks like it's night.....Some of the Tau are still going to up and running, so don't let your guard down. If two volunteers would so kindly man the side heavy bolters, it'd provide some cover fire for clearing an LZ if need be." spoke Adley over the comm
OOC: Tau are biologically capable of both night and day combat, however, culturally, many prefer the night, if I remember right.

"Spend years fighting nids.... You would become one as well." He said as if he didn't here the comment.
Jackson got up to head to the turret but paused to talk back to John
"Also John, there have been imperial guard regiments which took tyranids, in an attempt to create an artificial synapse to control hive ships..... I think it ended with accidentally creating the trygon.... This is one of the things my regiment was trying to research."
Jackson went into the hatch and set up the heavy bolter. "This is gonna be fun.... Until where shot down...." he said enthusiastically.

The comm crackled over the intercom.
"Remember, hold you fire until they start shooting at us. Last thing we need is to be illuminated in the sky."
A few moments later, the intercom crackled again.
"Okay, we're going to be doing a pass over the DZ in 10."
Rosh listened, and stood, unbuckling his harness, and donning a gravchute pack.
"Those of you dropping in with me, gear up. Rest of you, sit tight."
Slyati and Kellet both remained seated, Slayti petting the plasma gun in his(her?) lap. Kellet actually appeared to be dozing off.
Derald shifted uncomfortably, and, upon finding a not too painful situation, closed his eyes, leaned his head back, and stopped moving.

"Yes sir."
John got up and picked up the supply crate he made and headed for the rear exit.
"Shoots are ready and so am I."

Jackson gets off the turret and heads for the door. "Ready to jump!"

OOC: My character is in the door seat, so he'll be in the door first.
"Ok guys clean drop, red light on hook to the rail, 5 second count before following the previous jumper"
Wes fingered a button on his armour's cuff.
"Follow my beacon in, remember basic practise roll into the landing, don't stiffen' up and once you've hit drop your chute and go for cover, if you get lost, trigger your beacon, me and the LT will advise once we're down. Ok jump in what ever order, except you Lt you come in second from last to spread our officers."
Wes stood in the door and waited for the light, revelling in the feeling of wind and the rush of the potential jump.

Rosh nodded his understanding. He was many things, but he was not as experienced a drop trooper as Wes was.
"On your mark."

Levin closed his eyes. He hated the movement on one of these things - nothing like the gentle transit in orbit. He flicked the safety off his rifle, checked the clip. Wouldn't do much good this far off the ground, but it made him feel a little more in control. He envied Kellet - how the hell could you sleep at a time like this?

Jackson hooked up. "It feels weird not dropping with my platoon....."
He looked around the seats. Spots a sleeping trooper and chucks a bullet at him. He turns to jump 5 seconds after the first officer. Then use his beacon to follow him to the ground.
OOC: I'll auto jump when someone says the light is green.

OOC: Kellet is a woman.
A hand came up and caught the bullet.
"You of all people should know not to waste ammunition," came a cool, steady voice, common to snipers.
Kellet tossed the bullet back, not bothering to open her eyes.

Alexei had been sitting quietly near one of the heavy bolters. With the mention of actually manning them, he felt the need, being the heavy weapons expert, to man one.
"What are the ROE's sir?" The Valhallan asked, looking down towards the ground.

"30 seconds till drop, smoke 'em up boys"
Wes waited braced in the door listening to the crew chief count down.
The light above his head snapped from red to green.
"GREEN LIGHT, DROP IS ON, GO! GO! GO!" The Crew chief yelled the traditional Elysian drop call, Wes was already pushing himself forward as the light went green.
Wes dropped, He flatted his body and plumetted at terminal velocity, 2 3 4 5 he counted and pivoted himself to see the next jumper exit behind him, he counted 3 more seconds and activated his grav chute. The sudden change in momentum came as no surprise. Wes loved this part, the speed, the thrill it got the adrenalin pumping, "better than any combat drug eh lads" he messaged over the comm

Jackson come to level with Wes Sharing the thrill of the fall, he glanced to Wes and gave a thumb up to indicate all good.
Then was hit in the face by a large bird that flew out of a cloud. He span out of control and away from the designated course.
He regained control in around 30 seconds only to realize he was off course. Must of hit a strong current of air. He couldn't spot any other trooper so decided to set down.
He landed on top of a building, in a smog from a factory for cover, then pulled out the beacon tracer. Hopefully he wasn't far from where the rest landed.
Jackson looked up to see the bird which hit him. Jackson thought about shooting it down.... But that would give away his presence.
He looked back at his tracker. It seemed to have taken some damage ... It was still working... partially.
He pulled out his sniper and attached the bayonet. He made sure that none of his equipment had fallen during the fall. None had. Jackson then proceeded to move towards the beacon on his tracker. Carefully avoiding open spaces and making sure he stayed within the smoke.(as much as possible)

Wes touched down with practised ease, he rolled down. He dropped his grav chute and drew his auto-pistol, Wes checked his beacon was still active.
"This Klivian DZ is secure. No contact"

"ROE (Rules of Engagement?) is that no one fires unless either I or Lieutenant Adley orders it. If you are shot at, then you may fire back. Do not, repeat, do not, initiate an engagement."
With that, Rosh lept out the Valkyrie, following standard procedure. Rolling, clear, he drew his pistol and scanned the horizon again, making double sure the area was clear. They had landed in a clearing, surrounded by tall trees, that were sparse enough to see, but thick enough to provide good concealment and cover.
"Is this everyone?"
------------------------------------------------------------------
Adley activated the comm again. So these were his men-and woman.
"Well, looks like you boys are stuck with me. I'll be landing this bird in about 10 minutes or so, until then, sit tight, and keep watching the ground. We're flying low alt now, so no, we are not going to crash into the ground."
As he said it, the Valkyrie came dangerously close to the ground, close enough that Adley had to dodge through the tops of various trees.

Levin laughed just a little too loud and gripped the straps on his seat, doing his best to keep a straight face. Nothing to inspire confidence in new squadmates like a fear of flying...

OOC: are we inside or outside the city?
Looking back at his gear he pulled out a com.
'ROE ....no one fires unless ......Lieutenant Adley ...you are shot at, then ......... repeat...do...initiate ..engageme.....'
"Dam it.... mikes screwy...... do they want me to make an engagement? No.... That wrecks the point of the mission...."
Jackson starts sending a message threw his com. With no idea of what will get threw. "Jackson off course. Jackson off course. Tracker damaged. Tracker damaged. Mike damaged. Mike damaged. Location is.....i do not have a map..... Repeat i have no dam map.....Mikes dying Mikes dying I'm near large plumage of smoke,Moving east by north east."
He put his mike back and started to proceed to what he hoped was the beacon.

Wes was exploring the area when he heard the ROE communication.
"Message recieved, sir! I've found an abandoned prefab shelter, i'm currently securing it, looks like a good place to take stock before moving in"

OOC: Basilisk, does this sound like a city to you? "They had landed in a clearing, surrounded by tall trees, that were sparse enough to see, but thick enough to provide good concealment and cover."
IC:
"Copy that. Wonder why they put a shelter in the middle of a forest...Move out to the shelter."

"Sir i have you on my scanners come to heading 212 for 20 more metres and you'll find me"
