Anything that we can do to get rid of these posts?

Too bad we can't send a spam bot back at them.

Socks are not so bad boiled with salt and black pepper...lots of black pepper. I prefer dress socks over gym socks...and the occasional stocking is always a rare treat.
Remember kids...when they throw you something random, just go with it.
Spam bots...yes, what to do about spam bots.
If only there was some process underway that may determine which one among us shall have the privilege of deleting these soulless scam artists at ever available opportunity.

Unless they have entertaining content. Then there should be a waiting period...
Maybe not. It doesn't matter to me, I usually see them before they're deleted.

This board is small enough for each individual case of spamming to be addressed individually I should think.

*sigh* Another thing we need a new mod for. I want that for my title if I get picked, "Destroyer of Spam".

There actually is a way to turn off the ability for guests to post on the boards. But you need admin or possibly moderator equivalent power to do so (don't know how much overall authority mods have over things like that.)

I know I can't post when I'm not logged-on. Computers are magic!

Guest can't post on here.
What happens is a bot or person joins and starts posting. When that bot/persons account is deleted then all the post appear as Guest.

We could introduce a system where a new member would have to apply to a mod for permission to post. Can you do this and would it stop the spam-bots?

That would be pretty unfair. I think that's why the activation system was stopped.

Considerin that RT, Woz, and now Reds are not on 24 hours a day, it would get pretty out of hand, not to mention damn hard. Considering that all of US would have to apply to, along with the hordes of conscripts...
Well, with over 2450 members, that's going to get out of hand...
What about the human verification system that other places use? (Like the one I failed 10 times >.>)

I'm not sure what Proboards can handle in terms of verification processes, actually. That said though, if you do see a bot, PM me and I'll delete the posts or change them to something amusing or useful.

You gents already know that my door is always open, and that which I don't destroy, I remake in my own twisted sense of humour's image.
My, that was a laboured reference....

Weird how they keep going for the Roleplays section - is it the most commonly posted in or something? And I have no idea what it even is they're trying to advertise, so I think they've failed there

Okay, just an update on the Spambot front.
They do seem to target the RP Section a lot. I just killed three posts literally as they were being posted, and nabbed another one a while back a few minutes after it went up. Kai's threads seem to be the popular target.

*The homing beacon I placed on Kai seems to be working...*
Soon we'll lure out the bot-king, and we can slay it. Then problem solved... for the time being...

Another one just turned up, 15 posts with exactly the same thing in it ( I think, couldn't be bothered to read them all...)
Please kill it.

I have seen something done... When the "person fills out all the info name DoB etc, the magic question is "what is your favourite colour?" any spam bots answer their name...there fore they were not accepted. It does mean that anybody that tries to register it will be up to the admin to accept them or not but it works.

That will also exclude people who can't spell colors. RT probably won't have a problem with that...

Seems like a perfectly reasonable arrangement. People too lazy to check dictionaries are not people worth having.
