Basically it'd be about a squad stuck behind enemy lines whilst on an inquisitorial mission, the inquisitor is killed and the squad decided to attempt to try and survive long enough to get returned to imperial lines, but i can't really choose, how to set it up.
I:E how is the squad deployed behind enemy lines so far i can't choose between crashed Valk or broke through and went to ground as part of a massive assault
how big the squad should be?
any ideas.

If it was a mission, then they must have been taken there. Dropped by Valk, Deep strike, smuggled in, or even made their own way there on foot / other transport.

I like the idea of them going in, their insignia, armour and weapons hidden with raggs so they fit into a a line of refugees taken prisoner to get amongst the enemy.

The Gentleman Soldier has a great idea. That sounds really cool. They don't have insignias or rankings, bodies completely scrubbed of all tattoos. Travel light, smallest guns that they can smuggle in and dressed as the enemy. A bit like Traitor General by Dan Abnett.

I like the idea of them being on foot. They'd be on some sort of behind enemy lines / rescue thing, you know? Like in Saving Private Ryan. Sorry if it sounds dumb, that's the thing that came to mind.
