Recently, I got into an argument with a friend over my use of space marine vehicles in my CSM army. I use things like the Land Speeder, Land raider crusader and redeemer, hunter killer missiles, and thunderfire cannons. Also, instead of having Raptors I use Assault Marines. He sais that because they arent im my codex, I cant use them.
I like to say my Fluff is that I have access to these things I shouldnt have, as my warband likes to corrupt and/or steal vehicles from their loyalist bretheren. *evil chuckle*
What are your thoughts on this. Is it acceptable for Chaos players to use loyalist equipment? do you allow it if other players wish to do it?

I always say that if you opponent has no problem with it it is okay, but since your opponent has a problem, I think that you have to drop this choices from your list. The problem with Fluff is that you can explain everything with it. Lets say that I am annoyed that my Tau suck in close combat, so I say that my Earth Caste engineers developed a machine to control the hive mind. In the next game my Tau will be supported by a horde of Carnifexes. I hope you see how unbalanced this is going to be now … Another thing that bothers me is that you pick and choose only the best choices. Why do you use Assault Marines for Raptors? Do they have better options, or are they cheaper as their Chaos counterpart? What you might do, though, is to take the SpaceMarine list and use your ChaosSpaceMarines. Thus you have to renounce all the cool stuff the ChaosSpaceMarine Codex offers, like Defilers, Obliterators and all the funny equipment, but at least it would be fair and legal (and your opponent can say nothing against it ) Cheers! -Magg

You can only play from one codex in your typical games unless you have your opponents permission to do otherwise.

I do not think that is a problem. As long as you clarify it before the game starts, everything should be all right, although that should be obvious Maybe you can create a scenario where your Renegades try to steal some tanks from a loyal chapter (Huron does it al the time ). Nominate a model per unit as a driver and try to reach some tanks. Maybe you place the tanks in the middle of the battlefield and the winner is, who achieve to secure more tanks. -Magg

Assault Marines are armed exactly as Raptors if you build them right.

If you use proxy models it should all be good, unless your opponent is a tight ass. Then don't play with that guy. If your using both codexs that isn't allowed. But if you just use the models I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I would say that unless it was agreed upon in advance it probably isn't a great idea. When you hear you are playing chaos you expect to face certain things. For a random game having a crusader or some landspeeders turn up would be a bit unfair.
Having said that i think anything should go between friends if no one has a problem. My friend loves converting wacky land raider variants. The latest is armed with a vulkan mega bolter i gave him from my shadowsword. Or there is the predator with an executioner plasma cannon. Mixing up the units can be fun as long as you don't take advantage.
