I love melta-gun-pony-tail dude, there's a real sense of movement in him Agreed, it looks like you've just taken a picture of him as he was turning to fire at something.

Thanks 3ff3ct and pyrotechnics! Yeah, when I said I was back on track... it's taken me this long to paint the two tanks. Anyway, here they are. C&C more than welcome. Cheers all.

VERY dark! I like!
I personally would add some chaos symbols or similar, just to break up the black and grey and add to the narrative of the vehicles.

Those tanks look very very good. Very Chaos-y Add the chaos symbols and they will really take off!

I like them! I agree that some Chaos symbols and spikey bitz will make them pop. Can you take some photos from other angles, please so we can see more of how you converted the hulls?

Cheers for the comments fellows, I tried to do what you suggested, and have added a few free- hand symbols. I think this one looks alright IMO, although the markings are rather small. I tried to add a big chaosy star to the front of this one, but it's a little bit wonky. I might revisit it eventually. C&C more than welcome!

Never ceases to amaze me that something as obvious as a turret swap can yield such terrifyingly cool models. That color/colour scheme is scary! OH, and the chains are cool too.

Cheers Rook! Update! I've been rather productive, (by my standards) over this weekend. One vehicle built and 4 veterans assembled, although I do not deem them pic worthy. This was originally intended to represent a Collossus, but I think the guns a bit too weedy, so I might make it a Medusa. What do you fellows reckon? Here goes... C&C more than welcome.

That looks pretty awesome, though I think that it's more like a Collossus cannon size, I would suggest making some smaller tubes and slotting them in the cannon, making it look like it's extended. Loving the chains again, it really brings the tanks into a combined theme.

Whoa! That's a sweet merging of a Russ hull with a Basilisk platform... For the gun, I would suggest doing something to thicken the barrel, and perhaps add an extension as empirespy said.

The freehand Chaos stars are very good, as the more grotesque and slapdash the stars look, the more chaosy they look. Chaos renegades just cut off imperial markings and slap paint on their vehicles for the most part. So what you have done is very appealing. The Colossus looking tank is definitely more Colossus-y than Medusa-y.
To make thickening the barrel a bit more simple, paint the inside black, the inner part of the barrel. Trace the diameter on another piece of either cardboard or foam board and trace a concentric hole in the center to represent the mouth of the barrel. cut the pieces out carefully, then glue the two together and vwalla!! Thicker looking barrel with very little work required.

Cheers for the comments and advice!
I'll definately give thickening the barrel a go, but I doubt I'll make it any longer. IMO it would look a bit like a fat earthshaker if I did.

After seeing this in real life, I feel that it would be more like a Medusa, as in the pic the barrel looks rather thick, or it did to me last night...

Have you thought of maybe adding a removable honeycomb to the inside of that barrel so it can do double duty(Medusa& Colossus)? Think pepperbox. Use drinking straws maybe?

Cheers all for your kind comments and advice. @trooper and Krieg. Thanks for the tip about thickening the barrel, I did that and I must say it looks a lot better. Rook. Cheers for the advice! By the time I saw your post I'd already carried out Kriegeirk's barrel thickener, but I may give it a go next time. Right, on to the pictures! First up, the finished Heavy Stubber squad: And then the finished Veterans: The finished 'Collossus,' although I've decided to make it a Medusa now: Krieg's barrel thickener in all its glory: The Centaur that I originally bought to transport my veterans. After realising its somewhat diminutive size I gave it to a platoon command squad. The Chimera I then bought as a transport for the Vets: And finally my second platoon: So that's the second stage of this project finished. I'm hopefully being given some more minis to add to this for my Birthday; which is very soon, so it shouldn't be too long until an update. Until then, here are some full army shots. C&C always welcome. Cheers Shostak

Everything looks great Shostak! I have a question about the Centaur. Im thinking of picking up two of them for my Grenadier's squads over the summer. How difficult was it to assemble (Like were parts bent out of shape, warped, or twisted?) I've heard that about FW tank kits that they are sometimes a nightmare to build.

Cheers KRIEGEIRK and zeke! krieg. A few parts from the Centaur were a bit bent, but as I'm sure you know that's easily fixable with hot water, although a few bits needed filling with greenstuff. It's not a very difficult build at all, as the main chassis comes in about six pieces.

Looking great, it's great how they all come together with the paint scheme and bases, and the red really makes them stand out in a good way. Keep up the good work, -Empirespy

You might want to take the circular file to the inside of the barrel thickener, it looks a bit wonky from here. Otherwise this is splendid work all around.
