I'm not sure which page it's on but somewhere possibly in the events in history page with great battles and such they mentioned a dark elf fleet was mostly lost with one remaining survivor claiming to have seen basically fish people. I personally think this could totally work. It could be cool and the new rules laid out suggests possibly a new army. I mean there are creatures with rules that makes them move slowly on land when out of water. Either some new and interesting beasts or fish people. There may even be some navy battles included with land armies. I'm not sure if they'd include navy battles with land armies as an expansion or just make a new game set like battlefleet gothic. However something says they wouldn't try that as those games are unpopular.

I'd play it. I have waaaaaaaay too many Deep Ones/Cthulhu conversion ideas not to.

Gothic isn't really unpopular, it's poorly supported.
As for a new army, it could really go either way, but I could see it as a part of another expansion, and then selling as an independent force if that expansion did well enough.

Well they had Man O' War, the first game I remember seeing in a GW. I doubt it'll return though.

I was more thinking of an Atlantis inspiration but i think the island of ulthuan sort of has that at least in it's land formation. I would really like to see an atlantis or cthulu inspired army. The former would really work for fantasy i think.

There are records of sunken Lizardmen cities, could be a theme to build on and create a nemesis race for them.

That'd make a lot of sense actually. I can imagine they fight high elves a lot for some reason and possibly skaven just cuz skaven are everywhere and they burrow a lot of places esp. under the ocean. Filling up the underway with sea water would really urine me off though. Honestly like against the locust it could do a lot even if many of the tunnels are above sea level. Then again i could imagine an attack against the skaven would effect the dwarfs since their tunnels often intersect.
Actually i always thought one of the huge nemesis races for lizardmen were skaven since clan pestilens nearly destroyed them single-handedly. Of course they've also had to deal with chaos warrior, chaos daemon and dark elf incursions i think. Not sure what else but probably a lot considering the treasures of the new world. I suppose they could have more than one nemesis race though considering dwarfs have skaven and then the orcs and goblins.

Well, they HATE all things Chaos and especially Skaven, but I don't think they fight either all that often on a regular occasion. There's probably some Skaven skipping around, but it would be interesting to have a more active native race for them to pummel. That way you could create battles involving them outside of "random treasure hunters go to Lustria". Also the fish-people race could raid the Old World in Dark Elf style, to tie in any possible battles that might occur,

Well i may not know most other races but i'm pretty sure they fight skaven quite a bit considering the skaven almost destroyed their race. In fact whenever clan pestilens tries to reclaim part of the old world they destroy most things. In one case the only thing that stopped it was a meteor strike (possibly caused by one lame OP lizardmen slann the one that's already dead in particular). Honestly the lizardmen race would be dead already if it weren't for a few exceptional heroes. That's a lot different to other races. I suppose skaven are the most hated race to many things. They caused the death of nagash and nobody knew but them and him, they fight orcs and goblins for possession of dwarf stuff, they fight dwarfs, they fight humans but humans forget, they fight lizardmen and recently for some reason they want to kill elves just cause (mostly the high elves though). Unfortunately they don't seem to have a distinctive win vs high elves but they're trying oh so hard that they'll probably get one eventually. In my opinion any skaven battle vs high elves is an uphill battle. Good luck to those cowardly little guys.
I do have to admit i'd actually enjoy a fishmen army against lizardmen or skaven or even high elves and dark elves. I'd prefer them to be bad guys but they could be good guys since they attacked a dark elf fleet first. Good guys and bad guys frequently attack other guys on their imaginary side (order, disorder). It really doesn't matter that they attacked dark elves.
I also wish nagash had his own army in the game. Sure the vampire counts followed him at one time but he eventually turned on them. He's been cast out by the tomb kings and he cast out the vampire counts. He's really not in either of the categories fully. I'd really like to see him getting his own race but then we'd have another undead hero. Of course we'd also have a new bad guy that's probably equivalent to freaking archaeon or other similar baddies.

I get a kick out of the Lizardman-Skaven rivalry I think when I get back into having a fantasy phase then I'm going to collect Skaven a bit on the side so I have spare parts to adorn my lizard bases and for some grudge matches.

I'd play some of you if i was in the area. I however am in the northern U.S. so i can't play you. If you ever came to michigan however i'd be more than happy to play you. I stomp the lizardmen player i always play with. He's decent he just needs to kill my doomwheel and hellpit before he moves in stupid ways with his skinks.

So it'd be more reinventing something they already sort of did years ago. Though the other option is the Fmir, though I doubt they'd be remade for the new edition.
