I was looking at some fantasy and was wondering how pikemen fit into the game. As I understand it they don't have any rules and basically would count as spearmen. They sort of army I would collect, although this would be in the far future land of 'next year', would be based around a phalanx and gunpowder empire army. I looked at some of the pike miniatures and they seem ok, not the best but not terrible. I would probably use some of the old dogs of war models, like Alcatani Pikemen or Leopold's Leopard Company. An expensive way to set up an army but maybe a block of each with some skirmishers/cavalry/ranged support.
Anyway, army build isn't really the point of this thread. I just wanted to know if pikemen even exist anymore, or if there is some way to upgrade spearmen to have extra power that could represent pikes. I know some people suggested elves would make for good pikes as they have special spear rules.

Pretty sure basic Dogs of War pikemen are still legal, yeah. They're good, but hard to use as your bulk troops as they count as Rare choices.
If you want models, I recommend using spearmen of your choice and buy some thin plastic rods. Replace spears with the long rods, and use the spear tips for the rods. Worked wonders for me, although I mainly used models with open hands which made it easier to fit the rods in and keep them stable.
