kennyjapan: >facepalm< Looking good Cosmic, although I am a bit disturbed that you couldn't settle with simply having an awesome Warhound, you just had to push it that little bit further didn't you?!

No, although I almost did. Money I save now can go on more 'useful' things, I love the model although i know it'd just sit collecting dust somewhere....
That and I've got more than enough to paint at the moment! :S

I had a thought the other day that might appeal to you...
I was thinking how much I'd like to get a nice big background for all my photos (and even for battle report photos,) since the most dramatic angles always reveal the rest of the room since they're taken from the models eye view.
And then I thought about your scene.. how cool would it be to get a really nice background painted onto canvas / card to go behind your diorama.. maybe even make it a bit 3D?
I'm planning a couple of compositions, which I'll post in the picture post tomorrow when the lights better... neither of them are planned for large scale scenic though... but how cool would it to have a firestorm sky with rockets, aircraft and explosions flying everywhere, some imperial structures in the distance obscured by smoke, maybe a gargant somewhere etc etc...
... I just thought, how cool would it be to suspend a valk or ork fighta from the shelf above?

I was going to paint a scene behind it Tread I've been thinking of ways to do it for about a week. I'd like to look at your compositions I'll keep an eye out for it. Once the shelf is done I'll set to work on the background.

OHNO! Now I have the Art Attack theme tune stuck in my head! Grrrrrr! Much cheaper and lighter than modrock too Love the holiday pic in the background, I nearly got my digicam knicked by a dodgy guy when I went away last doing the same!

Haha yeessss, my diabolical scheme is working! Sing 3ff3ct! SING!! And yes it is I've just finished texturing the whole thing now and it's looking really good!! Ah, well luckily...but somewhat unfortunately, we were with her parents so it was her dad that took the picture, not a strange french bloke

Haha! It'll look great with some paint on it, I think modrock texture looks too much like bandage when drybrushed. I swear it's just me and you on here during the day... Its a happy distraction from paperwork though

It is a happy distraction, but my cat's decided to curl up on my lap and I now can't go upstairs to finish the shelf!

The pillaging of supplies from the "Golden Throne" looks like it's working out most excellently, Cosmic! I'm really looking forward to seeing everything finished, and the Titan looks amazing...

The Golden Throne indeed! Thank you Trooper had an luck rummaging for Cadian bitz? Shelf Update- PaintingWell with everything in place and mostly sanded I thought I'd start work on the far right end, so I can decide on a colourscheme........ Cool, alien looking edited pic... I'm really pleased with how it's turning out. The colour is just how I wanted it and the rocks came out perfectly. I know it looks a little barren at the moment but I've pre-ordered some of the new 'Middenland Tufts' from GW so it'll be getting some more foliage soon. You have to remember of course that this is just one end, and it'll all come together as I work my way up the length of the shelf. Cosmic

Really fast work on the warhound, and the whole display shelf with the bastion is a great diorama. The orks should be worried, but probably aren't.

Looks fantastic Cosmic! Very impressive! What did you use for the ground? like what kind of putty or epoxy did you use?

Nice colour choice, it looks really good. Maybe you should turn the orks around and make them run away from the titan?

Looks fantastic Cosmic! Very impressive! What did you use for the ground? like what kind of putty or epoxy did you use? Thank you Krieg The ground you can see in the 4 close-up pictures is just sand, but further up for the rocky ground I just used household Polycell wall filler... www.trssupplies.co.uk/images/uploads/tools/PLCFS400GS.JPGApplied randomly all over, and then just messed about with a sponge Background- TestI've been searching Google for images of wide landscapes to go behind the shelf, and I found a fairly good one.... It's not perfect but it's an alright match! Obviously this is just a tester, so thoughts and opinions please! Cosmic

I think it looks great! My only problem would be that it isn't a 'from the ground' shot and that they look like they are floating.... Matches the board very well though

Thank you, Cosmic. As for the background I think it looks great! it looks like it's from Arizona, such a beautiful state. I think that is a picture from Monument Valley.

Matches the board very well though Yeah that is a big problem, but it was the best I could find. I don't want to paint a background on any more as I feel it could look horrible if I do it, so for the time being this will have to do. I believe it is too Krieg fits in perfectly as well! Thank you.

I think it looks awesome, although I do share 3ff3ct's worries. Perhaps a straight on pic to give us an impression of how it looks to anyone looking directly at the shelf?
