I am trying to find a nice combo to add to my current 1k list of Orks.
My gaming circle of mates is used to my horde guard so I am trying to be more varied and field an interesting Ork list. I'm facing mech-Eldar with walkers, Dread Heavy Marines, Horde Barrage Guard, Kroot Cult GeneStealers with 6 MC's and Skaven (which play a lot like Eldar). .. yes, they have weird armies.
I will also possibly be taking this list to my local GW where it might encounter horrible grey knight / blood angel / space wolf / etc etc lists of doom.. but I expect to lose these games and just be good sport
So far I am fielding:
Warboss + Attack Squig + Big Choppa
10 Nobs + Big Choppa inc Painboy
Big Mek + Kustom Force Field
20 Boys inc Nob + Klaw
20 Boys inc Nob + Klaw
3 x Rokkit Buggies
3 x Rokkit Buggies
I am trying to increase the amount of anti-tank without over investing in toys.
Currently I am thinking along lines of:
Looted 'Flame' Wagon + Skorcha + 5 Burna Boys (3ff3cts effect, and I've not met 'im yet!)
3 Rokkit Killa Kans
Battlewagon + Kill Kannon
Deffkopta + TL Rokkits + Buzzsaw
The Battlewagon is a points sink, but I really want to field the model I have to represent it. (see GGVI - Santa).. it would be used to transport the Nobs and HQs forward so would have 4+ KFF savev, but suffers from having priority target written all over it. ( I also don't believe that Orks should be firing large templates at tanks, they are much better crowd control).
The Flame Wagon seems a great idea and fits well.
Rokkit Kans are durable, and more accurate.. but I am trying to move away from kans as I seem much too frequent a feature in my Ork lists (but admittedly work well with the footsloggers)
... I am tempted to go for a looted wagon with Boom gun instead... the large S8 blast would be great at dealing with whatever comes out of a transport and large quantities of infantry in general. (saves me a few points for the boss's wagon too).
.. I am also tempted to put some Tank Bustas into the list, since they do exactly what I need!... (they would probably follow the Killkannon wagon and jump in after the nobz got out).
The Deffkopta is an as yet untried tactic - the scout 24" (3+ save) in the pre-turn sequence then assault 12" 1st turn vs a vehicle which hasn't had the chance to move and auto hit rear armour with S8 buzzsaw sounds good... plus hit and run so he can leggit afterwards is a bonus...
I do feel slightly low on troop units (the Nobs count as troops due to the warboss ability), maybe a small unit of grots for backfield camping?...
other options that are rattling round me noggin are:
3 battle wagons with red paint, 2 with deffrollas for the 20 strong boy units and 1 with killkannon for the nobz... leaving around 100 points
3 lots of boys in trukks
or lots more boys
arrg!.. I am useless at decisions! (and spelling).
ps.. is 3 nobs with combi-skorchas better than 5 burna boys?
