I have a question about the reserve rules and platoons
If I wanted to run an Elysian platoon list and wanted to reserve all my troops for deep striking(say I have two platoons, each with 2 squads and a PCS), would it count as 2 units in reserves or 6 units?
Its important for me to know because of the reserve limit rule!

I believe that each indiviual unit unit counts towards reserves, so vehicles and such are all counted.
So yes, it would be 6 units
Happy to be proved wrong though!

i think they count as just 2 units as they are platoons. but not sure without the rules. THINK it was in 5th. think it was just if it says they are ONE unit in the codex AKA platoons are just one no matter how many you put in. but unsure now :/ would check the rule book.

Platoons are rolled for all at once when rolling for reserves. So it's entirely possible to wait until turn two then pop out 5 squads of infantry and 15 lascannons. I believe transports are also allowed into this roll since they are bought along with the infantry. Bear in mind though that this is with the regular Guard. I believe the same would be the same with Elysians but I've never seen the codex for them.

A platoon is one unit for the purposes of reserves, so two units. Also, you have to have it all in reserve or not, no putting half of it on the table turn one.

No, nothing forces you to reserve the whole platoon or nothing. You can deploy some units and reserve others, and when you roll for reserves, you make a single roll for the platoon.
