im guessing you mean 'sculpting' ... modelling is really defining the whole 'building and painting' section of the hobby...

I suppose so, i would call it modeling but hey... I never like to be in the scene What i really wanted to do to get the scale right is use a guardsman and coat him in GS or whatever then work on it purly because i wouldnt get the scale otherwise.

yeah, adding additions to existing models is the best way to start... the tools you will need to start with are.. a pin. a scalpel these (to me) are the tools i use to sculpt the most... when you have stretched the limits of these tools i suggest getting a sculpting tool pack like www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2046448.m570.l1313&_nkw=sculpting+tool&_sacat=0&_from=R40this is the same tool pack i have. then tools like files and clay shapers (which can be very expensive) could be added to your tool collection in the future. as for putty... and i dont want to sound like a thingy with this, but i reccomend you buy every type of putty and then choose to use which you prefer.... green stuff (kneadatite), procreate , milliput etc are all different and perform differently... i think its perhaps best you decide what you start with considering imo... green stuff is perhaps the hardest putty to work with

Thanks dude, i got a bunch of gs already so i ordered off ebay a pack of milliput that comes with two sculpt tools for a fiver. Il look into procreate when i have more moneys cause it costs alot more than the others.
