Hey. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be legal to equip a Company Command Squad bodyguard with two laspistols, instead of a laspistol and close combat weapon, and fire them both in the shooting phase?
Or if I'm not able to fire them both, would it still be legal to model the bodyguard in this way?
Also, in the assault phase would having two laspistols make the model count as having an extra attack?
Cheers

i dont think it is legal. also not sure if you can fire both, Creed has 2 pistols but it just gets twin linked.
No it wouldnt give an extra attack, he already has 2 CC weapons so swaping 1 for another CC weapon doesnt alter it.

Ah lame, no on all counts then! I figured because I've read somewhere that the company commander can fire two plasma pistols if he is built with two that could extend to a bodyguard having and firing two laspistols.
I suppose I could just build the bodyguard with them anyway and simply count it as him having a laspistol & ccw without any bonuses

Yes, you can fire two pistols in the Shooting Phase (Creed's special in that his is twin-linked instead of two pistols), and no, you can't give your bodyguards anything other than flak armor, a laspistol, a close combat weapon, and frag grenades.
The reason is because you can upgrade your commander's weapons to be two plasma pistols; it says as much in the options list. The bodyguard has no upgrade options.

Modellingwise you can, as a las pistol is a CCW, but you couldn't fire both as the bodyguard only has a CCW rules wise.

Where does it say that? looking at my codex only got the option to upgrade the las pistol to bolt/plasma and the CCW to power sword/first :/ only upgrades that can be bought that affect the bodyguards are the entire squad upgrades: krak nades, pace armour and cloaks.

The Company Commander may exchange his laspistol and/or close-combat weapon for: In the previous edition this was useful for getting two powerfists on your commander for that bonus attack. In 6th with the updated rules for pistols, it works with plasma pistols too.

I haven't looked at the plasma pistol recently, but if it is not unwieldy then he won't get an extra attack for assualt. Also where does it say you can shoot both plasma pistols?

Gunslinger rule on Pg52 allows you to fire both pistols. As pistols count as close combat weapons, having two enables you to gain the bonus attack for two close combat weapons.

Okay cheers for clearing that up guys. I will continue with my plan to model the guy with two, and will upload a picture of him when he's done. providing he turns out well that is!

Yeah I just mean that I'll build the actual model with a laspistol in each hand, but he will function as a legal bodyguard with a laspistol and ccw, firing only one shot per shooting phase. I just think the model will look cool with two laspistols. I doubt anyone will mind it not being 100% WYSIWYG

I suppose that as long as it's clear that he's a bodyguard...

That shouldn't be too confusing. It is not like you're going to see a lot of guys dual wielding laspistols.

Thanks for this bit of info, Empirespy. I've just realised IG sgts can exchange either laspistol or cc weapon for a plasma pistol, so I might make a gunslinger plasma pistol/ laspistol squad sgt eventually.
