I just started playing Orks, so my experience with them is limited. You should take advantage of the mob rule, right now your units are too small and few. I was advise by my friends that play Orks not to take bikers unless they're nobs. Trukks are not very good as they limit your #s in a mob, maybe good to transport an elite unit, like burnas. You can also save pts by downgrade the ard boyz to regular ones, shootas are awesome.

If you are laying on a small table those small bike units could work out well but will be very fragile (and likely to leg it after taking a single casualty), I'm sure you guys are already thinking of consolidating them into one larger unit if they are having trouble.
I haven't used a lot of trukk boy sized mobs before but it will help you having all your boyz rushing across the table at the same speed as the bikes. I think shoota mobs with a special weapon work best in trukks and Tred has been telling me that using boarding planks to drive by power klaw enemy vehicles is good in 6th.
Are you guys going to play a lot of Ork vs Guard battles?

macknightI play more of a Vet themed list so at the moment he actually has the same amount of units as I do. My other mate plays Eldar, alot of Wraith death. He liked the idea of hitting hard and fast and getting into combat as soon as possible, because otherwise he will get shot to death. I'm not trying to argue with your advice, just letting you know I'm dealing with someone very stubborn haha. emptyhatIt'll be a 4x4 table 95% of the time. I was thinking of trying to drop some points invested in the trukks and get bosspoles? Also dropping the armour on the Boyz. There aren't alot of vehicles in play. At most there will be a couple of LRBT or some Scout Sentinels and a Chimera for me. Eldar runs a Ballerina Bus with either DAs or FDs. At the moment it's going to be Orks v Gaurd or Eldar with the possibilty of Chaos one day. I play Gaurd and my other mate plays Eldar. We finally convinced this Ork mate to play.

Small games on a 4x4 table are good for Orks and speed freaks will help that. It also sounds like you guys don't run cut throat lists so I think this list will work out fine for your friend while he starts out. Once he gets a feel for things he can decide if what he likes the idea of buying to increase his collection.
(I was going to say not to spend points on a special character but the I looked at the guy in the codex Waaaaaagh!)

My Eldar mate runs one hell of a difficult list to survive against. Wraith death everywhere.... I tend to make lots of fun lists with unusual styles and builds. His plan is to get a battleforce and borrow my AoBR Warlord for some small point games. If he likes the way it works then he'll expand.

Looks like an interesting list.. I'd really suggest to merge the bikers into a big Nobs mob .. after that it doesn't really matter what you put on the table. I'd also suggest sticking the boys in looted wagons.. AV11 rather than 10 and you can put a Skorcha on it. (the 'Dont Press Day' shouldn't efect much since yo'll be likely to go flat out anyway). Trukk boys benefit from Red Paint Jobs, Boarding Planks + Power Klaws are a must if you have klaws, finally trucks and especially looted Wagons benefit form a reinforced ram so they can reap havoc with out worrying about shooting!... this stuff gets pricey so experimenting until he finds his favourite combo is the way to go. I'd suggest to put full mobs in each trukk and have one with few rather than the spread at the moment - overwatch stings so the numbers are really important.. and use the small mob to charge first and take the hits, then follow up with the larger mob. The best Anti Air units Orks have are Aegis Defense Lines with Grots doing the shooting... great fun to model too. Against Wraith he'd be well off getting a load of Burna Boyz.. they have power weapons. The box will also include Lootaz.. which are very cool too.. just find some cheap torso's to add them too. ps for any ork player worth his green hide, its a good plan to read this (though not all at once since it'd near 100 pages long now): www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/456724.page
