So, ignoring the fact that the new apocalypse has forced upon us another hike in price, notably with the Bainblade costing £85 quid now (£60 when it first came out), what are everyone's thoughts? Anyone got hold of the book yet?

I'm intrigued.. I'd like to flick through the pages; but as I never really used the old apoc rules (well, apart from the rule that stated "you can make up your own rules and field whatever you like"), I don't think I'll buy this edition.
I would love to hear that it brings a new edge, faster gameplay with greater scale, less fussy complications and more condensed action - with scenarios over large distance and tactics featuring more than deployment and who gets first turn; combining artillery strikes with airdropping infantry into dense cities while tanks duel it out over the plains, all the while trying to secure forward supply routes to allow reinforcements to enter the fray sooner.
that said, I expect it'll be more of the tried and tested format:
step 1: put everything on the table Step 2: who ever has first go removes the opponents models from the table over the course of 10 or more hours Step 3: same player then states they have won to an empty room

The Unnatural Disasters have my interest. In the WD batrep, a vortex power went out of control, chewed into the planet, and in the next turn triggered a volcanic eruption that caused a section of the board to be removed (along with a hefty chunk of the Imperial force) and replaced with a bubbling pit of magma...

The image of entire board falls off the face of the planet fit right in.

I dislike it. the price hike and the merging of the 2 imperial super heavies is terrible. The price hike for it is insane again.
What I think is worse is people will buy the lord of skulls or what ever he's called over a baneblade/whatever you choose to build! (Cosmic I'm looking at you, comrade ¬_¬ )
One advantge I see is I might be able to use it to build the bunker I want, but that's one hell of an expensive bunker...
Overall I'm dissapointed.

I bought my baneblade and stormlord from dark sphere when they were like £40, so I had the joy of building it myself ^_^ I think it's such a shame GWS has screwed up apoc release with the 1 click bundles -_-

Faeit is back online?!
It's interesting that D-weapons will be costed more, so maybe a points hike for Shadowswords and titans with turbo destroyers. There may be titan owners who regret the decision to mount 2 turbo lasers on their beast.

I deleted the email. Does that count a participating the apocalypse relaunch? If it does, then I get to claim participation by unsubscribing to the GW newsletter when I got the Apoc notification. Reds

I did get the book, and gave a quick skim. Some things have changed. Tank shocking with superheavies can now be quite nasty. You can use specific arrangements of vehicles (think line abreast, etc.) to confer advantages to squadrons. Apocalyptic blast has majorly changed--there are now areas of effect within the 15" (I think) blast marker, essentially incremental 5" blast radii with the central radius being totally screwed, the mid-radius slightly less screwed, and the outer radius being even slightly less screwed (but still screwed). The Baneblade, and certain Baneblade variants, may now have Commissariat crews which give Ld 10 to friendly Guard units within 12". The Apocalyptic Barrage is a bit different, but they said you can still use the old template, and they give the dimensions of the new markers and tell you how to make your own so you don't have to buy a new set of templates (amazing, yes?). Primary Weapon seems to be different now--no more saving throw vs. it being damaged (as far as I can tell, remember I only skimmed it). The fortifications seem pretty neat, with the Macro Cannon/Vortex Missile bunker being AV 15, and "Massive Fortifications" (which that bunker counts as) giving a -1 downgrade to penetration roll results. Structure Points are indeed gone; it's all Hull Points now, and explode/wrecked on results the damage chart vs. superheavies knock off D3+something (IIRC) hull points. Destroyer weapons have changed as well...

Ive just skimmed the book it seems OK just alot of new tweeks, nothing Earthshaking. I do have to say that the new templates are a pile of Crap. like dollar store plastic toy material. I need to look into getting some laser cut plexiglas

I need to look into getting some laser cut plexiglas Yeah, I was shocked that they included the dimensions of the new templates so we can make our own and not have to shell out for the new ones... One of the main derpy things that I noticed was the photo spread on pages 3 and 4. It depicts Guard and Grey Knights fighting against... Tau. Because, you know, the Tau are daemonic and stuff. Or not.
