Just noticed your reply, Thanks for taking the time to do that. I bust my back four weeks ago, or three, dunno, I've been whacked out on pain killers since then and think I was when I posted. Probably a bit drunk. Dunno. Lost my job as a Paramedic 'cos of injury too.
I know you said "ask me anything" but that's not going to give me licence to be insensitive. I, maybe like many others reading, feel a bit awkward. I have questions but am unsure how to ask them without appearing to be a girl thingy.
I can do long stories ... I've got bugger all else I can do with my knackered spine. So if you've got time to write, I'll read.
I don't know if it's mentioned elsewhere but how did you end up in nick?
You sound exited about the machinist training. What sort of stuff are you thinking about making? Or just any contract?
The opiates are hitting me quite hard so it may take me a while to remember to read your reply.
Stuff sounds like it's going in the right direction and I'm pleased for you. Just promise that when you're lifting heavy "machine stuff" you do it properly and not end up with a mullered spine like me.

I thought you were married with a couple of kids when you wrote "Evict a family of four". I assumed you, your wife and two kids had been evicted because of not being able to pay rent or something like that. So I assume the family of 4 were squatters, right ? Don't be too hard on your Mum. One day you'll probably be a parent ... then you'll understand her emotional ... err ... what's the word to use here ... ? Her emotions ? I need a better word. Any parents of adult children out there want to help me out Hard for me to ask, but, what'd'you do ? PM me if you prefer. How did the court's idea of the event differ to yours ? Why was "your right" turned into "the court's wrong"? I get the idea that you "did the right thing" but that was not seen by others ... like your mum, the court, others you speak to when having to disclose the fact that you were in nick. I get the concept of parole. And the "obligatory answers". Did you learn your lesson ... yes. Will you do it again ... no. And you must never answer any different. But, and let's just say you are religious (in case your not), but, for the purpose of this "key" question ... ), when you stand before God ... how will he see it? If this is the only contentious thing you've ever done ... would you be in Heaven or Hell I'm not being a "girl thing" (as some mod adjusted it to ... (FFS)) and I do care a little ... but I'm interested a lot !!!

It's the forum that automatically filters obscenity. Our mods are far too busy being upstanding American gentleman or searching for their next victim to bind in leather and entangle in their web of Geordie intrigue to personally edit swear words.
I would never profess to speak for Rook, but from my perspective his crime was a justifiable action that was illegal. He was rightfully convicted under the laws of the colonies, but his actions were not that of a common criminal by any means.

He was rightfully convicted under the laws of the colonies, but his actions were not that of a common criminal by any means. Yes. This was very well said. Thanks Paradill. RedCuffs: I was assaulted by a man while performing my job and he tried to get away and I rode through a park on a motorcycle and rode by and broke his foot nearly off with my foot. For that I received an Aggravated Assault charge. You must know, I have a belief system a little off kilter from the norm and I live by a very very rigid code of ethics and this man assaulted me first and needed to be dealt with. "I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them" That qoute comes from a movie called The Shootist. The last movie John Wayne ever did. I memorized the quote the first time I saw it and have tried my best to live by it since. It's the sissy culture I live in that has screwed me thankfully not my belief system. As for God: I'm not a believer in the bible version and fall in with the thinking of Epicurus: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” And another commonly credited to Marcus Aurelius:“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” I had to evict a family of deadbeats from my house when I rented it out while in jail. As for my thoughts on the conviction; any child with a camera could have proven my guilt. But what would never be admitted into evidence is character. To put it another way I really don't think I would have even been arrested 100 years ago. The man assaulted me 1st and the cops chose to not arrest him. It's true I didn't need to chase him through the park but he needed to answer(in some way) for what he had done to an innocent person. That is where the Law and I differ. My machinist career is going strong. I am learning at work and getting paid for it. And I'm in the 'repair and manual' side of the machine shop where the most diverse type of work comes through. And get this...the guy training me has been doing it 40 years. I'm supposed to end up in school and given $7000 in tools. At the risk of sounding like an ass it sounds too good to be true and I will believe it when I see it. Don't worry about being insensitive to me. I have thick skin over the internet.

Glad your jobs going good rook I dont want to rub it in but if anyones job is too good to be true its me, 50% of my shifts I spend the WHOLE day playing xbox and watching movies. The rest I spend like half the day doing that And I get between £1300-£2000 a month depending on how many weekends I do on my rotation, then I get overtimes... £140 for a weekday, £190 saturday and £240 for a sunday. Pretty amazing stuff, oh and cause its government I get all those perks like pension and decent holiday etc. Anyway I didnt mean to hijack the thread, I was gonna say stuff about how your personal justice system couldnt work for most of the population but I couldnt word it without sounding like I was calling you an idiot... so I deleted the long ass post

As for my 'personal justice system' as you call it, it works very well for me. Except for this recent event. Sometimes my views are hard to live up too but I do my best. That quote in my sig sums me up pretty well even if I may sound conceited.

So I see how the jury must have seen your actions as beyond reasonable. Legally they were but I hope the bloke walks with a limp for the rest of his days. It hacks me off that he wasn't charged with assault, it shouldn't be like that. It's like some people throw their weight about relying upon the fact that the victim, like you, is most likely to choose not to defend themselves for fear of falling foul of the law. This guys behaviour has simply been reinforced, he became the "victim", was sympathised with, maybe got compensation ... and as such will almost certainly do it again in my experience of such things.
What job were you doing at the time? Traffic Warden ?
Well I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your life and work now.
I'm not a bible basher, I reckon my thoughts of any deity are similar to yours but I explain it a different way. I asked that question about you before god just to try and glean a bit of context which surrounded your actions and the event.
Adkenpachi ... I want your job. Yes I got London weighting and unsocial hours payment but my basic hourly rate for a Paramedic (for which I had to study for 3 years) was £11.70 an hour. (That's about $17.60 for those who use funny money).
That is simply poo IMHO.
Well I left London Ambulance when my spine went pop. I'm almost glad. Not missing the 12-14 hour shifts, no break, no hot meal, stuck for an hour or more in traffic on the way home, patients who are 90% wasters. Nope, I am glad. Just living on my forces pension now. It's not too bad.
