So I have been trying to get back into playing Orks, had 2 games last week against my friend and usual opponent. I used unbound lists because I very much like my deffkoptas but don't like the mob rule. So fielding 15 deffkoptas as single units works out way better than 3 units of 5. I won a maelstrom of war mission thanks to the super mobility of the deffkoptas and then an altar of war mission "HERE I SHALL DIE" where i tabled him turn 6 after a very decisive first turn.
Now that you know a bit of what i've done so far with the army, here is what I would like from YOU mr.reader i want to try and build some strong competitive battle forged lists but ONLY using items in my current inventory. I can't stress that enough, ONLY using stuff i actually own. Not at all in any way shape or form interested in making further purchases/convertions or what not so please spare me that commentary.
I'm not too sure about where to start, so I will give you a list of my entire inventory and post some battle forged army lists for me to try out in my next games. Combined Arms Detachment, Ork Horde Detachment, etc etc if it creates a battle forged list i'm all open to suggestion.
Here is what I have available:
4 Big Mek 3 Big Mek - Big Choppa 1 Big Mek - Shokk Attack Gun 2 Blitza-Bommer 1 Boss Snikrot 212 Boyz 104 Boyz - Choppa & Slugga 90 Boyz - Shootas 18 Boyz - Big Shoota 10 Burna Boyz 15 Deffkoptas 12 Deffkoptas - TL Rokkit Launcha 3 Deffkoptas - Buzzsaw; TL Rokkit Launcha 1 Kill Bursta 6 Killer Kans 2 Killer Kans - Big Shoota 2 Killer Kans - Grotzooka 2 Killer Kans - Rokkit Launcha 35 Kommandos 33 Kommandos 2 Kommando Nob - Bosspole; Power Klaw 20 Lootas 2 Looted Wagon - Killkannon 39 Nobz 14 Nobz - Choppa; Slugga 12 Nobz - Big Choppa 5 Boyz Nob - Bosspole; Power Klaw 4 Nobz - Power Klaw; Skorcha Kombi-weapon 4 Nobz - Power Klaw 1 Painboy 9 Tankbustas 3 Trukk 6 Warbikers 5 Warbikers 1 Biker Nob - Power Klaw 5 Warboss 5 Warboss - Power Klaw; Shoota
*NOTE = Models in bold are new stuff i recently purchased but have not arrived yet. So it's paid for but not on hand...keep that in mind if using them in suggested lists.
What my opponent uses if anyone cares or needs that information, these are his key units:
Imperial Knight Errant 3 Centurions - 2 grav, 1 lascannon 10 sternguard - almost always in a drop pod that shows up turn 1 Thunderfire Cannon Whirlwind Vindicator Chapter Master/Captain - Shield Eternal + Artificier Armor, the rest of his gear can vary from bike + hammer to footslog + relic blade 2 Stormtalons - usually with skyhammer missiles 5 assault terminators Imperial Guard allies - Leman Russ Tanks

I like this style of army list help, by showing us what you have we are able to best assist you without giving you a shopping list:
The units I am drawn to are:
Kill Bursta Looted Wagons with Killkannons Big Mek with Shokk Attakk Gun
Warbikers Nobz with Big Choppa's + Trukk Blitza Bommerz
Lootas Deffkoptas Boys by the bucket load!
I am wary of the massed single units of deffkoptas, I feel they are balanced by their squadron / unit rules.
Your opponent seems to like having range advantage so getting as close as you can as fast as you can sound good, though I have put in a lot of ranged ork units because they can be surprisingly effective.

Looks like a solid list of options how would you organize them into a battle forged force?

Since I have selected a lot of Heavy Support I would probably have to have a detachment of Ork Allies.
This provides extra HQ slots which is always handy with Orks.
Da 'Eavy Ladz
Warboss + Painboy* + 10 Nobz with Big Choppa + Trukk
Big Mek + Shokk Attakk Gun
Boyz Boyz Boyz Boyz Boyz Boyz
Blitza Bommer Blitza Bommer Deffkoptaz
Lootaz Lootaz Kill Bursta
*not sure if a painboy uses a FOC position or not.. there is a spare HQ slot in the allies if needed.
Da Fast Boyz (allies)
Warbikers + Warboss Biker
Boyz in Trukk Boyz in Trukk
Deffkoptaz
Looted Wagonz
Unit sizes would vary depending on points.
I don't like grouping the Looted Wagonz but they tend to scatter when shooting so normally you hit 2 targets anyway.
Ork Elite slots are missing;
I get tempted to add some Kommandoz but I have never fielded them effectivly - I prefer cheap boyz. Tankbustaz would be good too but again I have rarely fielded them.
What I notice is that you have no Battlewagonz, this makes transport a bit of an issue; trukkz are very fragile!

Do you actualy have gretchin or did they get left off the list due to Orkish indifference? Why are you switching from unbound to battleforged?

I own no gretchin when i first got my ork army they just seemed so undesirable lol never bothered getting any. Damned ORK WARBAND!! WHY MUST IT BE A REQUIREMENT TO HAVE GRETCHIN!!!
Any how.
Painboy is an HQ choice Looted Wagons cannot be a squadron. Warbikers are not nobz, the nob from my warbikers isn't a warboss. (he wishes..just isn't big enough yet)
I like kommandos snikrot is my brotha from anuva motha

I don't think there are any restrictions in 7th on how many FoCs you can use, provided you fill the minimum requirements. The Ork H.Qs are quite decent and the new mob rule chart seems to make larger nob led units of boyz undesirable. If you take un-led 10 ork trukker boyz with a heavy weapon then you can fill out your troop requirements cheaply and then abuse the fast attack slots to field a whole load of individual deffkoptas, and the heavy support slots and/or the elite slots to tailor the rest of your army, maybe a load of kommandos and deffkoptas outflanking while the trukkers defensively occupy the boards key locations, or maybe the heavy support stuff Tread was selling you on.
I think Gretchin are great units that your opponent overlooks or resents shooting at (that then secure vital victory locations) but cheap units of boyz are almost as cheap and un-threatening.

I'm not sure if you can ally Orks with Orks like that but you can take as many 'battle forged detachments' as you want as long as you fulfil the 1 hq and 2 troops minimum for each one (also feel free to use a forge world detachment as well if you don't want them all from the same codex). Empty like gretch because they are cheap troops but I see Akaiyou has no gretch.. Also no Big Mek with KFF.. Can't you just glue an adapted teleport homer on his backpack or something?
As an opponent of Orks I find KFF equipped Big Meks in an 'Ard Case battlewagon to be a great pain...

it'd be handy for you to highlight the items which are new.
I can see you have battlewagons and dakka jets.
You have a very solid range of units to draw on,
Shooty Army:
HQ
Big Mek + Shokk Attack Gun
TROOP
Shoota Boy Mobs x 4
ELITE
Lootas + Battlewagon x 3
FAST
Dakka Jet Squadron Blitza Bommer Burna Bommer
Heavy
Battlewagons for Lootas
LORD OF WAR
Kill Bursta

Must have mixed them up with Burna Boyz.
Still it wouldn't be hard to make a similar army with 2 CAD, allowing for 6 hvy slots. All you'd need to do is add in the Painboy for a cheap 2nd HQ.

so lootas in battlewagons work? I've never tried that always deployed the lootas normally...thinking the point of the wagons was to keep trukking! towards enemy lines, but i can see them being a very sturdy firebase for the lootas so that they wont be shot to pieces all day as tends to happen in my games.
Mind you i went on a crazy win streak against my friends space marines with my Ork lists. With a 90% win rate he totally hates my orks at this point lol
my space wolves on the other hand are struggling until I finally whooped out a TWC list for the first time and holy nuts those things can wreck armies single handedly.
Thanks for the lootas + battlewagon tip though i think i'll try that out in the near future. I like the sample list you posted i'd like to try it maybe I should post up an inventory for my wolves aswell.

Yeah; AV 14 is a tough nut to crack. Having 3 makes it a lot harder for the marines unless they have a list built around long ranged anti-tank or loads of white scar bikers with melta spam command squads
I think that the open topped b/wagons give you more shootiness. The 'Ard case ones restrict how much you can fire with fire points. Plus you can upgrade Lootaz to Meks and give your wagon the ability to repair lost hull points or weapon destroyed results.
The Wolves are really lacking in long ranged anti-tank, I find. They only get access to Long Fangs, so you need multiple Wolves Unleashed type CADs to spam Long Fangs.
