Hey guys, just wondering how people like to use land speeders. In particular, what weapons load out do you think is the best and why?
Cheers

I really like landspeeders and have seven off the little buggers. They are great fun to use and paint (building not so much) and I field two different loadouts: 1. The missile launcher + stock heavy bolter combo for long range support, work pretty well against light vehicles and infantry and with some positioning you can often get some side armour shots off too. Few people expect a fast vehicle putting out two krak shots. 2. A single Multi-melta for a cheap distraction unit. I play Astral Claws myself so I get to scout/outflank skimmers, and they usually do well for me. Parking a multi-melta within 12" of an enemy tank before the game starts usually gets their attention, and they can soak up a fair ammount of shots if you get lucky with Jinksaves. Outflanking works really well for them too. I imagine they'll still do well if they don't get scout: they are quick enough to get into range of something in the first turn (maybe the second) and attract a lot of attention... Or they get ignored and might actually blow up a tank. People keep telling me I should a 2nd Multi-melta on them, but I haven't felt the need. I have a squadron of each configuration, but usually run them in pairs or solo. The seventh one is ebay salvage... still have to decide what I'm going to do with it.

Helping my friend build his Space wolves force & found this fascinating. It really feels like the land speeder offers a lot of what his army needs. Curious as to your thoughts on a tempest conversion, or the tempest overall. Ever decide what you were going to do with that 7th land speeder? And just for clarification, you're talking about people encouraging you to build a land speeder with two multi melta's?

It's been a long while since i played marines so I have no clue how they are this edition. I think I've seen some 3rd part and 3d printed conversion kits for tempests.
Personally I'd not bother with regular marines at all; they're a dying breed.

I had a couple for a while, think they're now re-purposed as wreckage / scatter terrain.
The reason being that I found them to be amazing, tooled out with typhoon launchers and the rules back then they were deadly, however, I began to dislike having grav-sled style skimmers within my Imperial ranks and went for full VTOL aircraft instead.
And I always find I get more gaming use out of a wreck than the actual vehicles (many of my tanks haven't moved from their space in the ranks, yet the wrecked tanks and other bits come out nearly every game!).
