Those ultras are looking great!
Standards can be a pain, i usually don't glue the banner on untill it's done: that way I only have to strip the paint of that when i mess up

Thanks Nutty, and yeah, I'm seeing that now. I may cut his hand off and just strip that and the banner, if I can save the rest of the mini. Still waiting to see your Black Templars take shape, by the way So, my ultras have been sidetracked a little by my new project. With the new Eldar triumvirate, I'm using the "Everything Eldar" formation included in the new supplement to build a DE force, and supplement them with some Eldar odds and ends to make them... well, suck less. Admittedly the best use of the formation would be to break Eldar even further, but I prefer the DE models, especially for what's basically an army of Eldar death cultists, and I have a bit of an aversion to playing the "It" army. Plus I actually have some familiarity with DE wargear, so, you know, that helps. Currently on my desk, I have two units of scourages (one with blasters and heat lances, the others with haywire blasters and regular shard carbines), and a unit of 8 wyches that are basically going to serve as a delivery unit for the two Triumvirs who are actually independent characters. That throws in some ablative wounds, and a little extra CC oomph, but really, they're there to help heal the triumvirs when they die. On the way in the mail, arriving tomorrow or Tuesday, is the Triumvirate itself and a pair of the DE warrior/raider boxes. Dunno how I'll kit my warriors, but they'll probably be tooled for poison spam.On top of that, with my next paycheck, I plan to pick up one or two Ravagers, plus some Vypers which will be kitted out with spare DE bits. That'll leave me with 3 elite slots and 1 HS slot to fill, plus maybe 2 HQs.

Bless you for not breaking Eldar further but curse you for steering away from the Emperors light.

Sounds like a plan Still waiting to see your Black Templars take shape, by the way Yeah, you and me both... for some reason I've not been able to motivate myself this year. I am however nearly done with building the infantry for my third platoon, and I hope achieving the largest part of my IG goal (a painted Emperor's shield Infantry Company) will get me fired up for building more marines.

nutty: I think the marines might be a nice break. More fun to build, maybe a little more complex to paint, though. Are you maxing out every option on the shield company? Or just sticking with the three platoons? That was more than enough for me when I had my guard... @swalker: Weeeeeeell, I may take some scatter bikes and a fire prism along with the vypers. No wraithguard or warp spiders or anything, though. I'm trying to keep everything all plastic, and skimmer based. I may also grab an Autarch and slap the new relic on him that gives him FnP, Eternal Warrior, and some other stuff, at the cost of him losing his status as an IC. Might be funny.

If you'll kindly wait there, I'll fetch my buddy Ordo Xenos Jim to critique your army list/emperor-defying life choices.

Eh.. I alternate between Imperial Guard, Farsight Enclaves, and random side projects anyway. It's because I'm "stuck" with my other projects that I'm painting guardsmen anyway I just don't know where to start with building the templars. Tacticals/Crusaders are going to be in there ofc, but the rest of the army... I'm at a complete loss as to what I want in there.

Once again, we managed to have a weekend in the 70's here despite it being the dead of winter, so I did some painting. On the left is my Archon, a freebie from the TTG2 kickstarter I never thought I'd use. In the center is a kitbashed, Kabalite-themed farseer, holding some flame kindly donated by the avatar of Ynned. On the right, is a very sloppily painted test mini for my color scheme. The red is darker and less terrible looking in person, but I may swap to something else. I also managed to screw up the sword pretty badly with my initial painting attempt, but I'm too indifferent to painstrip it.

I like the colour scheme, it looks great. The TTG2 models really match the Dark Eldar perfectly.

That's not a half-bad paint job. You could fix it up with some bold highlights, then wash it again. The sword actually looks decent in the pic.

Now to see if you can get any paint to stick to the TGG2 model.

No more painting done, but I did prime another conversion. Realistically I should have taken a picture before I primed it, since some of the detail is lost due to it being all black now, but.... An alternate "farseer" model, with a slightly modified dark lance serving as a stand-in for the Uldanorethi Long Rifle relic.

Two updates. First, my Ultramarines captain (Well, one of them), side by side with a test scheme for my Fists (the missing arm needs to be paint stripped due to a screw up on the shoulder pad). Not... hugely thrilled about the captain, but he's functional. I DO like the fist scheme, however... Second, YNNARI SPACE PIRATES, ASSSSEEEEEMMBBBLLLLEEE! I was finally able to get my hands on the last parts for the collection. I'm pretty happy with the raider, as I managed to have the dudes hanging of them represent the squad they'll ideally transport (wyches, warriors, etc). The center front raider in particular got extra attention due to it being the transport for the Triumvarite.

I wonder what would happen if you plopped a bunch of yellow shade over gold armour.
Edit: And those Ynneary pirates look very mobile.

You'll have to let me know what happens if you try it. The Ynnari managed to cure me of a desire to build anything Eldar (of any faction) and anything that uses a skimmer base ever again.

The Ynnari managed to cure me of a desire to build anything Eldar (of any faction) and anything that uses a skimmer base ever again. I had the same with my Corsairs, til I stuck coins to the bottom of all the bases (bit easier on black infantry bases though). With the skimmer bases you could paint the top surface of the coin to match your battlefield - they should look less coin-like then!

Staff on the second chaplain from the BA death company thunderhammer? Maybe? Perhaps? I dont know Bingo. I've found that kit to be ENORMOUSLY useful for conversions, and for my deathwatch, since they two have inferno pistols and hand flamers in their armory. Plus the bare heads lack the stupid fangs that come with some other BA kits. I've finished my Not Imperial Fists! The entire army uses Mk. III armor except for the sternguard squads. Those have the FW fist torsos and the Maximus helmets for the most part. I haven't decided on a paint scheme yet, hence why they're still only primed. This is all McCaptain's fault. Command squad with Banner of Staganda, Apothecary, Champion, and two goons with storm shields The guys in Tartaros armor are my Librarius conclave. I didn't want another five Tartaros termies (have 10 already), so I figured that'd be a more interesting use. The Cataphracii armored guy is my Captain, with chainist and the Wrath of the Primarchs relic bolter. I'll prime more tomorrow if it warms up a bit more. The collection fits snugly into the Sternhammer Strike Force FOC. They are lovely. I vote for Sentinels of Dorn!

That seems to be the favorite, so that'll be their name. I had to re-purpose the conclave, given Tartaros armor now has separate rules, and can't be taken by a libby as far as I know.
Also, thanks for the compliments on the sorcerers, guys! It is a seriously, seriously cool kit, even though it has a pretty hefty price tag.
I've been bitten by the painting bug again, so more Ultras to come, along with some pics of my TGG 2 sisters.

You know if you went with The Rising Dorn then you could paint their armour as a beautiful sunrise gradually shaded from red, to yellow, and maybe blue.
