Those crusaders are awesome! I am going to have to steal that idea and make a few similar to that. Thanks for posting pictures of them.

Thanks. Probably every space marine player has some spare combat shields so those should be easy to find, and everything else comes in the Skitarii box (although there's only one sword in each sadly). And now for some heresy. My current project army is based off the idea of a Magos Biologis going off the deep end while studying Tyranids, doing some gene splicing, and ending up getting a little too in touch with the Hive Mind. When he's discovered, he flees to a remote mining outpost with his precious specimens and loyal Skitarii, and starts to assimilate the local work force into his cult over several decades. Here's the Magos (serving as my Patriarch), along with a techpriest from the mining facility that's been indoctrinated and "upgraded" (Acolyte Iconward). Close up of the Magos. I'm reasonably pleased how he turned out given I have few Tyranid parts even if the conversion is relatively minor (some new arms and feet, the tentacles from the stomach, etc). 4th generation cultists including the mining facility director (in the trenchcoat, serving as the company commander for my IG allied detachment), and several who have been converted into Skitarii by the Magos (my cultist squad leaders) I'm bending the fluff a little here and there for the backstory, but it lets me do some cool conversions, and if I need to upgrade my list to 2k or larger, I can just plug in units from my Skitarii-Guard in an allied detachment instead of having to buy new units.

The fluff is cool, that it explains your kit bashing is even better.

Cool idea! Looking forward to seeing more admech/genecult/tyranid hybrids

WiP of Lela One-Eye, one of my Escher champions. I popped her arm off for easier access to her side.

Nice and vibrant so far. Is that Mephiston Red or Screamer Pink? Are you thinking of doing all the hair coloured after a gang theme or to make it diverse?

The top is Khornite, the fabric is Mephy. The hair is Genestealer purple. I'm going to go for diversity, both in hair and skin color. This was just to test what I could do with a proper array of paints and non-crap brushes.

I've finished painted my second Skitarii squad, but they look like a slightly better version of the first, so I'm not going to bother posting them. Instead, have a quick kitbash. I need to clean her wrist up before I prime her. Plasma special weapons squad will be next.

That looks really good. It is begging for the bolt pistol barrel to be drilled though.

That looks really good. It is begging for the bolt pistol barrel to be drilled though. A hobby drill is on my list of things to acquire this year. Also I lied about the SWS being next, I kitbashed a hellhound out of a Chimera, a Russ turret, and some heavy flamers I got from... somewhere, I have no idea.

Made it look more Hellhoundy

I didn't realize it was a kit bash. I'm not sufficiently familiar with the regular hellhound I guess, but it looked like something that was meant to be put together that way.

I love the conversion. After the first pick I as wondering what you were going to do with the lasgun ports. Excellent choice. Good use of spot lights too! You should see if you can find some sort of hood for where the flamers connect with the turret. Like the top casing of a razorback turret cut down to fit... Not coming up with anything too good off the top of my head.

Never realised that LR turrets were interchangeable with chimera turrets. Probably because my guard still have old chimeras and 2/3 of the LRBT are old.
The Escher is really looking good. Any plan for the new gang(s)?

Paimon: Normally it uses the regular Chimera turret. I, however, always found that turret to be too small for my liking. mccaptain: I may try to make a "canvas' cover for it out of Greenstuff. That should be pretty easy, but my greenstuff skills are hilariously poor. I actually checked the raz)rback casing when I did the conversion, but it's not wide enough. cheminhaler: They aren't actually. the turret ring on the Chimera chassis is A) smaller, and B) off center. I had to trim the underside of the Russ turret and glue it in place, since I didn't want to try and get too fancy in fastening it. The cables preclude the turret turning anyway. As for gangs, I put a preorder in for the Orlocks at my local store, and have already come up with names.

A canvas cover is a pretty good job for practising GS skills. You'll want something that is or can imitate a tool for smoothing it a bit and make sure you have some water handy. Also you should have like 30-40 minutes to remove and reshape the greenstuff if you don't like how it looks. Rather than canvas though, how about a rubbery gas mask type seal?

I mounted a punisher cannon in the nose of a Valkery (A-10 Warthog style). I used green stuff to make anleathery looking canvas seal around it. Turned out ok.

I made a Canvas cover for the Gatling Cannons on the turret of the Taurox Prime.
It is very good for practising GS.

emptyhat: Rubber may be better, but functionally it'll just be a matter of what color I paint it. Working on a Necromunda table. I'm thinking of doing a small project that Paimon will be helping me with over Vassal.

True. Though you could use water and a tool to smooth it into a more rubery finish, or lightly press it for canvas texture; and if you work a fold in it might look a little different for sagging fabric and deppresed rubber. It should be easy to kink the GS either way but if you work out what you think it should look like before and maybe find a reference picture it can make it easier to decide if you are happy with it, or if you should pull it off and try again, or if it is a 'close enough' bodge.

if you are going to be smoothing greenstuff, I would recommend getting some colour shapers. A pack of five different shapes only costs a few bucks but they work wonders on greenstuff and other putties.
