And I don't seem to get tired of them in return. Which is why I'm currently negotiating the purchase of a NiB baneblade kit to add to my collection of superheavies. I'm just not quite sure what to build it as. So whilst I make up my mind, I would love to hear what your favourite baneblade variant is, and why

Having only done and fielded one, I'm partial to the shadowsword. The volcano cannon is just nasty and good for dealing with knights and any heavy tanks plus you have all the heavy bolted and lascannon shots. Not to mention it just looks epic.

the guardsman sat on the rusting hull.
anything else is a big juicy target which explodes killing all your force.
I've run a shadowsword in several apoc games now and each time it's done more damage to me than the enemy!
what's the rest of your army like?
baneblade is a good all-rounder
shadowsword is anti-super-heavy
stormlord is anti-infantry and can transport loads of men - best served as a bunker for heavy weapon squads
but seriously, if you wanted super-armour-mega-death-killy-stuff you'd be playing marines, so get yourself a whole load infantry and some real tanks like the LRBT.

Well.. I have a bunch of Leman Russ hulls (10), a Malcador Infernus, a Macharius Vanquisher, and a Stormblade (baneblade with a honking big plasmacannon) a bit of artillery, and a boatload of infantry. In short.. a bunch of stuff. It's not so much about what my army needs (what army really needs a second baneblade hull? ) but more about me trying to make up my mind as to how to build it. They all look cool, they fill a role, etc. So I keep bouncing back and forth between options. Str D is lacking in my army, but so is high RoF ap3. The hellhammer(?) has a beast of a gun with ignores cover, the baneblade itself looks very flexible in its target selection, etc. So I'm mainly just curious what it is that people enjoy about their superheavies (before they blow up)

I only have a Baneblade and Shadowsword (Baneblade Chassis) which is all I need for me.
My personal favorite is the Shadowsword, fun to Build and paint but also looks serious.
I hope you let us know which on you go for?

Once I make up my mind I'll let you all know. It was delivered yesterday evening, so I suppose I should come to a decision soon.
But I also have work and uni stuff to deal with, and want to complete the army I'll be bringing to a local tournament at the end of the month.. so it might stay on the sprue for a few weeks.

Yea that's a good shout, keep it on the sprue whilst you make your mind up. You never know, once you built the main body and start looking at the options, that may also help with decition making, once it's in front of you.

I ended up going with "most of them, most of the time" The hull is currently built so that I can switch around between the non-turreted versions. I just need to get some stronger magnets to hold the guns to the mounts, so that the longer barrels don't droop down. Who knows... I might actually finish it this year

If you get scrap bits of plate metal from your local metal shop you can save on magnets & not have to worry about gluing magnets in on correctly matching polarity.
