I’m making an order for some artillery (probably Quadlaunchers) and I was wondering what size oval bases I would need?
I’d like to make them into mini dioramas so there needs to be enough space for ammo and maybe a crewman.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I ended up ordering 80mm round ones for my mortars/quad launchers. But an oval base could work just as well, the 90x52 ones would be a good fit I think. Edit: they won't fit on the 75×42, either the wheels or part of the carriage will hang over the edge of the base. There are some pictures of the 80mm bases, with and without the thuddguns in a little plog I abbandoned a while back. commissar.proboards.com/thread/19217/artillery-detachment

The options are the Oval base 90x52 or 105x70 and for the round base the 100mm? I guess it depends on how much space you want to work with around the Gun.

Thanks nutty and MD!
I think I’ll go with the 105x70 will give me more space to work with.

Post pictures! I've been toying around with the idea of taking some of those forgeworld indirect fire pieces. Thud Guns seems pretty devastating for the small amount of points you pay for them

I will! The Quadlaunchers arrived today, I just have to wait for payday to get the bases.

Nice! You might want to shop around for the bases a bit; I got mine online and even with the added shipping costs they were much cheaper than getting the GW ones at a local store. The (round) ones I ended up getting were €0,79 a piece vs the GW ones that are priced at €4,00 each.
The hobby is expensive enough as is, and I'd rather spend my cash on more minis than on little plastic discs for them to sit on.

It depends if you are happy to pay the price so that you don't delay the fun, it's a conundrum that I have faught many times.

Well I got 9 at once.. so the savings were substantial enough for me to wait a few days to get them in the mail. If you order less that incentive gets smaller, but I just prefer to spend my hobby budget on more minis.

Both valid points. I would rather spend my precious hobby budget on plastic/resin.
I’ll be going for a GW order as you get free postage on orders over 40 quid and there’s a few bits I want that are web store exclusive.
Thanks again for the help.
