My tactics are as follows. See, charge, devour. my army has a lot of shooty thins in it, and as troops I recommened Termagaunts. s4 guns with re-rolls to wound, and a cost of around 8 points. What's not to love?

Tyranids are the exact opposite of everyone else. A good tyranid player kills things as a tactic and any loss is an acceptable one A bad tyranid player frets when he looses 19 hormigaunts to lasgun fire... Okay, I think that wraps up everything here...

I think 'nids are cool because you actually need dozens of your lower Hive life forms to perish to flash lights to make body plontoons for the big boys aka Canifexes. Tyranids are a deffinately a unique are army!

Why must you always boast castellen? The only tactic nids have is torush the enemy and try to eat their brains. Best tactic there is.

With the latest codex, a buddy of mine swears by this list...
Broodlord & Genestealers retinue, shooty 'fex at 1,000pts and another per every 600pts after til maxed out, 9 Winged Warriors, and max troop Genestealers. Scuttle (extra d6 move at begining of game), Carapace (+1 armor save), Adrenalin (+1 Initiative.)
Infiltrate the Broodlord & ret, get everyone to shoot at the quick moving Winged Warriors out front and the ominous, threatening Carnifex while the Genestealers become the game winner by reaching the lines ASAP. If any of the Winged Warriors or the 'fexes survive, so much the better for their impact, but for him, it's Genestealers for the win.
Of course, when I play him, I know this already and concentrate on killing the Broodlord ASAP with template weapons and snipers, and then whittling down the Genestealers, using Assault specialists to tie down the Warriors ASAP before they complicate matters by being the "closest target."
I usually ignore the 'fex until he moves into a bad position (crossfiring lascannons and/or M/L's), or I have reduced his Genestealers down to mangeable numbers...
It does not always work, but at least it becomes a game - not following that tactic against him ALWAYS fails.
