Got a copy of the new rules (don't ask) Can't wait to try them out. At the back it has all the stats for all the 40k armies and weapons (IG haven't changed) Anyway you don't want to hear me waffling on (and I've got some reading to do) but I'll leave you with a few things to ponder- Defenders React, Ramming and Deep Strike Mishap Table.

The Hellhound rules will be in the new IG codex. But the new rules on templates makes them even deaclier.

the hellhound uses a flamer template - the only templates getting deadlier are those which partials applied to. (and small blast ones, it can be argued).
the hellhound is kinda getting worse in my opinion, cuz it loses the ability to move 6" and fire the inferno cannon and heavy bolter.

The Hellhound is the first "Tank" that I put into my basic list. With more goon troopers apearing on the table, that flamer is needed to help cleaning them out and off of objectives

Big bonus to the handy dandy nade launcher then. Although I do really want a hellhound, just to put the template sideways ha.
I havent had much time to look through the rules properly yet, but does any one know how walkers (specifically sentinels =) ) fare in the new rules?

Walkers can run (d6) and can ram (and be rammed) by other vehicles
With the scouts special rule they are one of the few units that can enter the board from the short edges from reserve.

Due to the new template rules our heavy weapon teams are at a disadvantage. If the template touches the base the entire UNIT is hit. Since there are no partials that gives the opponent the advantage of two possible wounds to the unit automatically. Seriously, reconsider how you have yours based.
I am going with individual basing on mine from now on.
Not to sure about the defenders react rule. I like the concept, but I do have one major issue with it.
Here is why. If it is the bottom of the 6th and you have a unit sitting on the objective if someone does a graze attack (one base to base contact) on your flank your unit automatically must react to the attack instead of following orders of holding their position. Considering the survivability of a guard unit in HtH this could loose the objective and the game.
I am wondering if there is going to be something in our codex about it.

I have my HW on individual bases- The weapon on a 40mm base and the guardsmen on 25mm bases.

well sgtdude that could be considered drawing your opponent out of hiding with taunts and in case of the guy with pink female army cat calls. dirty trick yes however considering the person was picked with second turn and has had to withstand a severe first turn of shooting from guard then well he can have his little victory

Can anybody clear up the rules for me about HW teams getting hit 5th ed.? Blast templates and regular fire?
Do you distinguish hits between crew and gun or is it just the two guardsmen?

and it has to cover both of them if they are on the same base. it cant just touch their one base and count for both.
the faq says to consider it as just 2 25mm bases under them for partial purposes.
so were still good on heavy weapons. also a lot more reason to bring three heavy bolters as well.

Read the 5th ed rules for templates. There is no partials anymore. the template touches the base it is the same as it touching the 2 25mm bases. Which is why I am going over to the individual basing.

Yah, but the rules clarifications state that you must assume there to be two 25mm bases underneath the team-thus a blast marker must in essence cover one or both models.

If conversions were illegal, I believe GW would either
a) run out of money, from people not buying stuff b) Run out of senior staff, from them mysteriously dying.

I am slightly disappointed by the lack of killteam rules in the 5th ed rulebook, it was one of the reasons I never got the big copy of 4th ed because I hopped it would be covered in 5th, and if it is I have not been able to find it, oh well, time to troll around for a 4th ed book on the cheap.
