as the title suggests, this is a guide not unalike the ultimate conversion guide, except this is meant for drop troops. they are rated as following:
Cost: (for 1 whole 10 man squad)
NOTE all bitz is bought from thewarstore.com
time: (for a single man, assuming that youre proficient with making the mini)
difficulty: (on a scale of 1-10)
Right now pics are up and coming, but i have posted a few methods
Grav chutes
there are several ways to do this.
1: buy from FW
2: cut off the nozzles on the SM backpacks and glue them onto the kasrkin backpack
3: get a space marine backpack and shorten it
DYNAMIC POSING
if you want, you can pose your troops as if they are falling from the sky like so
for this model i gave a sortve a gliding feel
1: The Calthan pattern.
this is how i model my drop troops
plastic SMurf scout legs (any style will do)
OPTIONAL: green stuffed masks and armour
cadian torsos, arms and heads
backpacks (any kind)
STEP 1: cut off the belts on the cadian torsos and glue them to the scout legs.
STEP 3: shorten the lasgun by cutting off parts of it
STEP 2: glue the arms and heads on, as well as the backpacks or mock-up grav chutes (which will be covered in another tutorial)
OPTIONAL sculpt green-stuffed capes, armour, or masks to represent rebreathers and armour
this is the result
approximate cost: bout 30 to 35 bucks per squad
time spent: 3.5 minutes per man
difficulty: 7
2: the cadian pattern
STEP 1: this is about as simple as it gets, cadian shock troops
sculpt rebreathers, add a backpack or grav-chute
cost: from GW, 38 bucks for the 20 men, from the warstore, bout 25 to 35
difficulty: 5
time spent per mini: 2 minutes
3: Arcturian Aerotroopers
Step 1: another simple, yet effective, conversion, just buy jet-packs ( i think thats what theyre called) from hasslefreeminiatures.com and put them on a cadian body with sentinel visored heads, cadian vox heads, or pig-iron heads
difficulty: depending on what you use, 3-5
time spent: 1.5-2.5 mins, depending on materials and styles used
cost: 35 bucks approx per squad (depending on how the currency exchange is)
more tutorials coming soon, feel free to PM me with any other possible methods
