Good news: It appears that my older neighbor and younger neighbor (who had the loud argument the other week) have decided to grow up and resolve their differences and start getting along. So it looks like I won't be required to shoot anybody. Assumptions make asses of us all. "When you assume something you make an ass out of both u and me."

Assumptions make asses of us all. "When you assume something you make an ass out of both u and me." That statement is never more than 50% accurate.

I got hit by a car today on the way to work. Got a wrist sprain and some cash to fix the front wheel, then got sent home after I couldn't complete more than a couple hours of work.
I just ended every sentence in this post with the word "work."

Are you OK buddy? I crashed my motorcycle at 40 mph recently without a helmet on and I was in pain months afterward. Don't be too macho and get yourself the rest you need.

I hope you feel better, Julian!
Rereading Michael Collins' Carrying the Fire. I'd forgotten how good it was; funny and informal, I think it's still the best astronaut memoir.

Today, it's looking like there's a small chance (maybe 15% right now) I might visit the UK this summer.

My chance of visiting the UK is about the same. My dad is willing, but we're hoping to convince my brother to come along and he's vacillating. Spent most of the last trip in Scotland, will probably spend much of this one in Ireland and the rest picking up on things we missed last time. Like the D-Day tapestry, which I've wanted to see ever since reading about it in American Heritage two or three decades ago.
What are you thinking of doing there, Reds?

I see Rolling Thunder's basement potentially featuring in two IGMB members' futures... Wait. What?

@jen: I honestly have no idea. I want to have a better idea of if I'm going or no before I actually go, but I understand they have some rather nice tank museums. Probably better than the one at Aberdeen, anyway.

I visited Bovington last time, and it was indeed awesome. Also got to the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester.

Sharps, was the car hurt bad after it bounced off of you?

Sharps, was the car hurt bad after it bounced off of you? Probably didn't even scratch it. I feel fine, but I think I might take tomorrow off from work just to be sure. It'll also give me a chance to get my bicycle fixed.

I visited Bovington last time, and it was indeed awesome. Also got to the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester. I live right near bovi, infact that's where I'm going for a job interview next month. .. Though the job will be civilian security on the army base, not the museum Also I've put up pictures on here of the family in the tank museum, it is a cool place to go.

I never realised that the Imperial War Museum North is about a 2 minute walk away from my friend's house that I game at. I think that I may have to go at some point.

I got to see the Sherman and Churchill outside the D-Day museum in Portsmouth while heading to the Isle of Wight.
I'd really like to investigate that place more.. and the Imperial War Museum in London is awesome (though I haven't been in at least a decade and a half).
Most of the museums in London are awesome come to think of it. (Though the British history museum is more like 'The museum of stuff we stole from other places').

British museums are very eclectic that way. Here's what I remember from the one in Dundee:
Is it any wonder this is the kinda place I want to work? The UK is so packed with museums and historical sites in such a small space it isn't funny. Spent a month there, I could have spent a year.
I actually applied to Bovington once (they had a library position open), not realizing at the time they aren't allowed to hire a non-British citizen unless they have no other options.

Though the British history museum is more like 'The museum of stuff we stole preserved from other places'. How can you further preserve a mummy?

How can you further preserve a mummy? By not setting it on fire? By storing it in an inert-gas environment? By not poking it with a sharp stick?

The first thing I'm going to do if I ever encounter a mummy will be to poke it with a sharp stick that also sets it ablaze.

And what if there are multiple clown mummies, and they're having a competition to see how many of them can squeeze into a single sarcophagus? *Tammy Faye Bakker voice, cries* "Won't someone please think of the mummies!?" *Has mascara run down face*

Probably going to need sharper poking sticks and hotter fire for the auguste persona in gauze.
