I've come to a realization. I don't really seem to have a reason to come on this board anymore. GW is pricing me out of the hobby because I won't chase Editions. So I won't be responding to game questions like I used to. And the last 5 pages of the Underhive has nothing of interest to me. It bothers me guys/gals. Wait, let me say 'it bothers me BECAUSE it doesn't bother me'. What gives? I used to be on here daily. This place would go thru 10 pages before I got off work! Now it's like a page every other day. Where did everyone go? I may not come back after this post guys/gals and I don't really know what to say. I can take this place or leave it. I apologize if I offended anyone by this post I just feel this place is... hollow. Job, women, lift, play ARMA, repeat. Life is on the tickover. And I suspect we are all a little less mad, here. We could always try a new silly RP?

I apologize if I offended anyone by this post I just feel this place is... hollow. Happened to me some years ago. Only played a few games of 5th ed (2008) but gave up. Got tired of building then rebuilding armies. In 2nd ed I had four large armies (about 20k points each), by the time 5th came out I only had my IG. Now they've all been sold off. Think I got tired of the way GW keeps buffing/nerfing armies to balance the game so they can sell more units of any chosen force. I still buy, build and paint the minis (still love the models) but then I sell then when I've done (but GW's prices are slowly putting an end to that.) I enjoy the modelling side of the hobby but the I have no interest in the game itself. Though I don't post much I'm on here every day (it's one of the friendliest forums I've been on).

I apologize if I offended anyone by this post I just feel this place is... hollow. Everyone goes through this. Some people leave. You've noticed how so many old members aren't on here anymore. Most of the new people don't really visit the underhive, and the number of new people who stick around is low. Yeah, it is a little hollow compared to its former self, but the people who stick around still have things to say on occasion. I like being able to talk with my fellow IGMBers around the world. And it occurs to me that I'm around the world right now. So I like to share the occasional picture or story that might be interesting. I don't know if hollow is the right word, but it's not wrong if you want to think of it that way. If you leave, it'll just be that much more hollow without you. We'll miss you. And your scorpion kill count.

Well I got fired yesterday. Told my foreman I didn't want to show up to work because I was too pissed off. My employer was supposed to set me up on the NIMS website so I could do online testing to further my career and such, and they never did. After working there six damn months THEY NEVER DID. So, yeah, I'm pissed off. Well he told the owner the truth of why I needed the day off and I was fired because 'being pissed off isn't a good enough reason'. LOL like they want a man convicted of aggravated assault in their midst when he's pissed off. So I sent the owner an email explaining why I was pissed. I will keep you updated on his response, if any.

It is sad that we cannot be truthful of our reasons for not wanting to come in to work.
some time ago I called in and said I was stressed, this didn't go down very well - I was recommended counseling (which was fair) but was given a fairly clear message that if I couldn't handle stress then I should look at other job options. Again, out of context that is fair though I was trying to explain that a combination of events in my personal life had knocked my resilience down - this didn't seem to be recognised.
The upshot was that i did pursue counseling and it helped give me a bunch of tools to aid me, primarily it made me realise that spending loads of time late at night gaming wasn't helping me be a fully functioning full-time employee and dad with small business on the side. shame really, since blowing stuff up feels like a really cathartic exercise in stress relief.
Rook - you may have grounds for an appeal and if not it sounds like they aren't the right employers any way.

That's one way of looking at it. Some of my friends will tell you the problem is that work leaves them too tired for gaming at night. I knew one guy that was constantly off work with depression. He'd start a job then after a few months he would get signed off sick with depression until "they" start hassling him then he'd quit. Start another job and repeat. He did this in four jobs. Fun guy but work depressed him because wanted to spend his time doing the things he wanted to do, which was tinkering with his bike and go riding (none of the bike shops would employ him because they knew what he was like). In the end he died in a biking accident at 36,

At least he died doing what he loved.
But man, that's a depressing story.

Yeah that's really sad; its like you can never win... Well I got fired yesterday. Told my foreman I didn't want to show up to work because I was too urineed off. My employer was supposed to set me up on the NIMS website so I could do online testing to further my career and such, and they never did. After working there six damn months THEY NEVER DID. So, yeah, I'm urineed off. Well he told the owner the truth of why I needed the day off and I was fired because 'being urineed off isn't a good enough reason'. LOL like they want a man convicted of aggravated assault in their midst when he's urineed off. So I sent the owner an email explaining why I was urineed. I will keep you updated on his response, if any. At the end of the day they could be trying to bait you up to see how you'll react. People do this all the time because they are mean. In fact usually people who try to goad you the most are the ones who run to the police first as soon as you snap and they'll tell lies and blame everything on you. If you have been fired and there's no chance of appealing then just try to move on; I'm sure you can easily get employment again; you got it in the first place after all.

Today for the second time in two months I was passed over for a job I was told I had in the bag. This one at the very end of the application process after they waited tons of money on my application. I was waiting for a school seat and I was told they were going with more qualified candidates.
2 years of searching and still nothing to show for it. FML

So, I used my first free weekend in about four weeks to go see "Mad Max: Fury Road." Hoe-ree-phuk, it was awesome. Charlize Theron looks fabulous with her hair cut short, missing half an arm with a crude bionic replacing the flesh, her forehead and eye sockets smeared with soot and axle grease, and generally dirty and rough around the edges. The almost non-stop, over the top vehicular carnage and mayhem was LOL funny at times, and I've got so many ideas of things to build for Ork Speedfreaks now.

Charlize Theron looks hot regardless. I have to confess that I've not really been much of a fan of hers in the past, but she dirties up quite nicely. You look good... with no arms....(?!?) Yeah, thanks, I'll have to remember that particular chat-up line.

So, did my first infantry op in ARMA III. Used the NLAW to suppress an enemy position (screaming "Allah Ackbar", because this improves missile guidance), wound up being a supplementary riflemen, then looted a GPMG off the corpse of a fallen foe - because weight is for lesser men to consider. Scragged a couple of hostiles, and then got wiped in the mass screaming charge into the enemy town.
Good times. In other news, am squatting 122.5kg, have found a gym 15 minutes from my house, am fixing my shoulder mobility. Have found an intelligent Coloumbian polsci student to date. Have fallen for her, bloody idiot I am. Can run a mile in about seven minutes, cross country in combat boots (because fornicate wearing anything else). Got a pair of leather-soled boots for dancing for £45. Cut my hair to a mohician again. Am utterly shattered.
Rook, man, I am sorry. For everything.
Req, I hope Japan is as good as you always thought.
Reds, no, I am now a slave to ARMA III. Pewpewpew.

I got XCOM, Metro 2033 Redux and its sequel, and that's about it because I already have too many games to obsess over and it's not like I had abundant amounts of free time to begin with.

My Wishlist has grown somewhat fat though so I might get some more... then again I do have a bunch of games to finish and a bunch that I haven't played much.
