So... I was hospitalized last night. Did an abnormal bout of drinking for I don't know why. So many apologies to write.
FML
PS - In Japan, they put a diaper on you for that, and they give you two IVs. Oh, and I found electrodes on my chest and stomach. Did my heart stop?

If they replaced your lower legs with bionics you could be on your way to joining the legions of Skitarii.

If they replaced your lower legs with bionics you could be on your way to joining the legions of Skitarii. Or, you'd be halfway to being a MEC trooper. Nothing quite like giving up your limbs for the chance to curb-stomp some X-rays with a combat exoskeleton the size of a car. The base augments should be enough to help you adjust to normal, everyday life after the alien invasion is over, though.

Not related to Req's ongoing adventures/transformation, but the below viddy-oh is too awesome for me not to share...

And no, not really. I was just really, really stupid for no reason. Like one of those moments when the decision making/thinking part of your brain takes a few hours off.

Oh and speaking about Japanese stuffs... Paimon can you explain to me why there is a talking female bear that wears a maid's outfit and has a cybernetic right arm in Knights of Sidonia? I watched all of season 1 over the weekend, and I gather that she's a legacy character and used to be a Garde pilot... But why does she exist in the first place? Is she some sort of genetic experiment (given that there is now a third gender, and humans can photosynthesize, in the show)? It's the one thing that somewhat squelched my enjoyment of an otherwise awesome series. Will Lalah be getting more backstory to explain her presence?

Season 1 is all there is. It does explain why humans can photosynthesize, (which is a kind of clever work around I think (though it should make people green)), it doesn't explain the genetically modified bear. Yet. Given that there are a handful of people who are immortal, and she is one of them, there is probably some thing that will be explained later. Or they may go 'it's magi-tech, we ain't got to explain nuts.'

If you really want it explained, you're doing it wrong.

Explanations quickly become tiresome. Especially questions surrounding the placement of IEDs.

Rook, man, I am sorry. For everything. I am doing better. My former employer I think was personally responsible for screwing me. That's the best I could glean from the emails at least. Like a pic I downloaded recently said 'Don't look back. You aren't headed that way'. So I'm putting that idiot behind me. So I worked 1 single day at the temp agency that used to love my work. I also talked to the Painter's Union hall and need to go down and fill out an application tomorrow. So being the stand up guy I am I call the temp agency and tell them I won't be there tomorrow because I have a chance at real employment(a trade/career). He tells me that I most likely won't be allowed back at the place I temped to. Meaning that customer wants only idiots and people with no drive working for them. Drones. Told the temp agency 'well if they won't take me back after one day off to fill out an application then to H3ll with them'. Like I'm going to willing starve making $9/hour. Who did they take me for? @req: Hope you feel better. Btw what were you drinking?

I may have to look into acquiring the manga then, I think there are at least 12 volumes that have been translated and published in Engrish. I figured that you may have read them and knew the answer to my question of "WHYYYYYYYYYYY?"

#Rook, I felt fine about an hour after waking up in the hospital. I was drinking whiskey when I should have been drinking a chu hai (like a Mike's lemonade), or something similarly light. Or, you know, something without alcohol.

I had a Dark'n'Stormy a few nights ago at Buffalo Wild Wings with my coworkers. Made me just a touch woozy, and I ended up accidentally rubbing buffalo spice into my eye... OUCH. And, for no apparent reason, the restaurant had no cold water in the restrooms. Seriously?
Ran a game of Once Upon A Time in the teen tech lab yesterday, mostly with other staff. We had a helluva time and by the end we were really getting into the crazy story and teens were listening in. It started off about a conventional kingdom with a castle on a mountain and a city at its foot. The king sent his knights off to defeat a nebulous "enemy" with a dungeon full of traps; they disappeared for several years and it turned out they had instead decided to settle in the city with its beautiful women. The King then sent his elite Guard regiment down there; they found the walls raised against them and everyone inside asleep. As they explored, they discovered a talking frog in a well, who explained that a witch had bewitched him after a long, meandering side story. It went on from there; I managed to win with a "in the skies" card and an "enchantment was broken" ending card by saying that everyone decided to pray to the heavenly gods for assistance and they took pity on the hapless kingdom.

Then her girlfriend talked to her and looks like things are healing...

I hope you spoke with fiery oratory to help her understand her role as a cog in the machine and the importance of all those little cogs to help the machine run smoother.

Be sneaky and try to find out her town (or city) of residence so if she has another episode of suicidal ideation you can make that call for her. I'm glad to hear she's stabilized for now, but still it is no fun to have a friend go through that and not be able to help...

Woohoo! Got the sun projector on my telescope working perfectly! I've got an excellent view of our local star, complete with sunspots. That should be perfect for my skygazing program Tuesday.
Next to try and spot the moon and Venus in broad daylight. I can't see Luna with the naked eye even though I know it's right overhead; at 45 degrees from the Sun it's probably too early. 7pm would have been a better choice for this program than 5pm, but on the other hand at that point it would be harder to see the sun. Always assuming we're not clouded over on the day anyway, but I'm hoping for some clouds to talk about weather and atmosphere. And in the event we're rained out I'm putting together a powerpoint presentation on hurricanes, space, and aviation. Wish me luck!
