Yes yes! I have rounded up a way to do it! Light infantry! infiltrate your sqauds and then rapid fire melee the xenos to hell! Isnt it delpy 18 nches away in the open or 12 away in cover or out of sight? If so then this works! if not then I must go back to the drawing table!

Yeah, that works! ...but what happens when its his turn and crisis suits kick in, and your tanks are way behind your main battleline? Huh? HUH? LoL. Missile launchers!

hmmm light infantry is a good idea too!! you just deploy 18 inches in front of them, roll a high number to see who goes first and CHARRRRGE!!! wait....shoot first....then charge....
but Drop troops work too!?? lol i mean, suddenly appearing all around their battle lines would = utter chaos.....who shoots at what, which is the bigger threat....drop troops!

HAHA! Yes sry but i wanted it here because its almsot infantry specific. And when the crisis suits kick in? you laugh cause it wont matter. Seriously get 12 inches in cover then just shoot da hell outta dem then next turn was they move back take your conscripts up and rapid fire them to hell.

Drop troops, special weapons squads, drop sentinals, light infantry, cameoline, the hellhound.
Drang:Mr Ethereal, I have some good news. Nancy little Ethereal: What? Drang: The imperial guard have exterminated your armies, and are now marching on your position. Nancy little effete Ethereal and cowardly tau commander: How is this good? Drang: You won't live to see it (stabs commander in the face with powersword and rips ethereals spine out) This is the fate of all armies with bent, beardy list options!!!!
Ahem.

I also play Tau, and a good thing to beat them is to deep strike using the drop troops doctrine (almost wrote "droop troops"-thats a whole different matter)-and use those squads to fire various special weapons. Also, tau lack indirect weapons of any kind, so basilisks will work nicely if you can keep 'em hidden. Krak missiles destroy crisis suits-but not broadsides, which have a 2+ save.

I say infiltrate 3 Vet squads with Plas, Grenade Launchers, and Heavy Bolters or missle launchers(a mix is best). Hit the crunchy bits(the Crisis Fleet as all Tau commanders play the Farsight suit list) and even normal Gaurdsmen should be able to take down Fire Warrior squads with concentrated fire. Althought this assumes you have good cover or Carapace armor to alow you troopers to survive a turn or too of shooting themselves(especaly if you loose iniative).

Yes true! And agains, yes true! Crunchy bits must die first. (If you havent noticed I have had trouble with tau up until this discovery!)

I beileve the best way to kill tau is through blind fire , multiple troops with good save and combat. If you have a personal grudge aganist the tau and want to kill them badly take 3 basilisks hide them at the futherest edge of cover. Take multiple motar squads hide them and them take 3 dropping storm trooper squad w/ commisars in them
